Shore Hotel Laxey

The breakfast had good choices, particularly the fruit and cereal option, but we were surprised that fruit juice wasn’t standard. Dinners again offered variety, and the salmon was exceptional. Staff were very kind and helpful, and managed to juggle dining times to fit us in to the restaurant each evening.

Being above the restaurant, the noise and the music were a little too audible when we wanted to sleep at 22:30 on a couple of evenings, but not enough to complain about, as it was Easter. One constructive criticism is that, like other 4 star hotels, none of them have small armchairs or sofas to make TV viewing easier.

The food was most certainly 'fine dining'. Great menu, cooked perfectly and served with a smile. All the staff were friendly, attentive and very helpful. The room had a lot of electronic gismos that were great fun. good lighting, which could be dimmed. Coffee maker and a hot and cold water dispenser, electric blinds and a Google pod. The Japanese toilet was an experience and the jacuzzi bath had mood lighting. The staff explained it all and there was a manual in the room to help! Moulton and Brown toiletries were a delight and bathrobes and slippers added comfort.

The air conditioning was a little too noisy to leave on which was unfortunate but the staff were very apologetic and said that they would be looking into the problem. Another small thing was the wardrobe which was designed to hang only short clothes, no space for dresses.

The breakfast was very good. the technology in the hotel is so over the top. We do not need a toilet seat that lifts up when you enter the bathroom. There were reading lights on both sides of the bed but a switch on only one side which made it difficult for one person to read later than the other but not be able to switch the light off without getting out of bed and walking to the other side and then walking back in the dark.. We could not understand the TV as it was far too complicated

The staff were superb and the car park and grassed area outside was very popular with hotel guests and locals. The hotel was located well and convenient to get to many other places on the island without the hassle of traffic in Douglas.
