Kings Happy House

The bed in the dorm was big and very comfortable with curtain for privacy. Well situated close from the beach. The owner is very nice and friendly!

Lalith is a wonderful host, he recently started the business and he takes care of the guests. The homestay is not big, they have 2 dorms and 1 private room; 3 bathrooms and a common kitchen equipped with all essentials. The position is very handy to get to Heriketiya Beach or to the main road. Dorms have lockers, big matresses, privacy curtain, reading light and plug.

Dorms are a little bit small, not much space for luggage. A little stiff air, might need to get aired during the day.

Kind and welcoming owner. Clean room and bathroom areas. Close to the beach and restaurants. Lovely breakfast.

The design of the double rooms wasn't for us, there was an opening around the top of the wall which meant you could hear noise from the kitchen/corridor. The guests were quiet when we stayed so it wasn't much of an issue for us. We gave the owner feedback about this which he was appreciative of.

The Kings Happy House has a super nice owner who spreads his happiness. He made us Breakfast, which is included when you book the private room and it was alright, just typical Sri lankian food. The room is rather small but it was good to sleep there, especially the fan was good so it didn't get too hot at night. There is also a kitchen with a mixer, kettle, pans, dishes, flatware and a fridge. The vibe was chill and even though it's not the most social place we have stayed in Sri Lanka you can meet and connect with a few people here. Especially for this price and for the location beeing 5 walking minutes away from the beach i can definitely recommend staying here.

The private room is small but that didn't bother us, but it's good to know when you have a lot of luggage. The mosquito net hangs on the head side wall of the bed so it touches you more than if it would come down from the ceiling. It didn't bother us, but i think it's also good to know.

Very comfortable place to stay. The place is new and the owner is very open to suggestions for improvement. He is so sweet and makes you feel like a VIP guest instantly. Bathroom was spacious and clean, the bunk beds were very comfortable and felt private with curtains and bed light. There's a nice seating area in the front yard and an outdoor shower for when you want to rinse off the beach. Location is excellent, close to some nice restaurants and close to the beach. A few suggestions, since the owner welcomes them: maybe hang up a board with recommendations for things to do in Hiriketiya (surf, turtle swimming, sunsets, food, etc.). Also use the area upstairs, maybe decorate with some plants and arrange a family dinner sometime.

I had a lovely time at kings happy house! The owner was so incredibly kind and helpful. As the hostel is quite new, he was always very open and grateful for feedback and suggestions for improvement. He alway made sure I’m safe and well taken care of wich was quite nice and soothing as a solo traveller. He also helped me with organising any trips I wanted to go on. A person who runs his hostel with heart and soul and wants to make sure you have a good time there.

The sheets were a bit dirty but after mentioning that, the hostel owner immediately changed them The rooms are not completely sealed towards the outside, so mosquitos could come in and there’s no net.
