Villa Gufo Ostuni

Everything was perfect. Very quiet, very clean. Easy to get to by car. It has a great pugliese atmosphere . The hosts Roland and Julie are very welcoming

Hard to find any faults

The Dutch brewer Heineken used to market themselves under the slogan « Heineken don’t do [X] but if they did [X] they would be the best [X] ever ». Well have I got a slogan for Heineken….« Heineken don’t do beautiful Puglian retreats that you don’t want to leave but if they did do Puglian retreats they would be the best Puglian retreats ever». And they would not need to make anything up. Because such a fantasy retreat already exists. Ronald (appropriately Dutch) and Julie have created something very special in the Ostuni environs. Stylishly designed with all mod cons and cool vintage pieces and inside/outside living/eating/ luxuriating areas our three nights in late July 2024 were memorable. The sun shone, extraordinary breakfasts appeared, the pool area was amazing, the bedrooms beyond comfortable and we will remember the warmth and generosity of our hosts for a lifetime. Or at least until we return for some new memories. Which will be soon.

Fabulous hosts, spotless rooms, comfortable beds. Wish we had more time here!

Everything! Julie and Ronald are excellent hosts, who were great fun and very personable. Julie sent a detailed explanation with photos how to get to the villa as soon as we got off the plane and thereafter provided several excellent recommendations during our stay. The property is immaculate with large shared areas, super cooking facilities and a well stocked fridge with wine (excellent Rose!) and soft drinks to purchase at sensible prices. Very nice pool and outdoor relaxing area.

It is hard to fault the property, assuming you realise that it is located in a rural location without amenities on your doorstep, which in turn is a large part of its attraction. Once we got our bearings, it was easy to get to Ostuni, about 10 minutes drive away,

It’s hard to know where to start as this place is amazing. The location is perfect for exploring this area of Puglia and because it’s out of the way it’s very relaxing and tranquil which is what you need after exploring little towns in the heat. The facilities and furnishings are top notch. It feels like you are staying in a very good friends home - Roland and Julie and the perfect hosts so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They recommended the pasta making class with Nonna Dora and Antonio which was one of the best experiences of our trip. Not to be missed if staying here. Breakfast is so good too. I just loved it here.

Not a single thing!

Wonderful, welcoming, friendly hosts. Lovely pool area to relax after a day sightseeing. Very clean. I would go back but probably as a large group, taking over the whole venue, rather than as a couple. The facilities (terrace/kitchens/lounges) are all beautiful but I didn’t feel (with our particular room) that there was any private space other than our room. I think given the communal spaces it would be a brilliant venue for a group of 6 couples or a family of adults.

No window in our bedroom. You need to have the door open to let air in. We could open a shutter at the top half of the door to let light in but then inside the room felt a little visible to other guests. Not a huge deal. Just haven’t stayed anywhere else with that set-up and it felt a little strange to me.

Nothing
