Salma Desert Camp

The food was good and the cabin was nice. The campsite is out in the desert. The staff are really good, we never met the guide.

We were the only people staying in the camp. We arrived early afternoon from Petra and decided to stay in our cabin till dinner. We were offered 2 tours. A 4-hour sunrise and a 4-hour sunset. We thought the tours were expensive and 35JD per person, per tour. We agreed to do the 4-hour sunrise. We were picked up at 5 am by a driver and driven around for 4 hours. There was no guide. The driver didn't know or couldnt communicate a lot. i,e this inscription is by a dead king who died a long time ago?? We got back to the camp at 9 am had breakfast (really good) and decided not to sit in the cabin for 8 hours doing nothing until the sunset tour. So we asked to leave a day early. We were left feeling disappointed.

The location is fantastic and the facilities in the camp are good. The view from the glamping tents cannot be better. Our guide in the desert is a great guy and he really knows the desert well. In addition he knows about the Bedouin living, plants in the dessert etc. We highly recommend him as a guide in Wadi Rum.

The cleaning in the glamping tents need to be improved. The vehicle we were transported around in the desert was very old and dirty to the extreme.

Great Host (Muhammad and Radwan). Muhammad has good English, and loves a joke or two. Get to know his background and the trip becomes more enjoyable. For the employees here, this is their bread and butter, and due to recent conflict in neighbouring countries business is affected. But that is not what I'm here to review. Pros: Great location. Not far from car drop off point (10 mins). Far enough however for the best stargazing you will see. This experience alone lying down in their firepit circle makes me give it a 10/10. Great firepit circle. Great chef also, and yes coming from a hard to impress family when it comes to food, we were thoroughly impressed with the food the chef provided. Especially given the fact Jordan was not impressing us with their traditional cuisine. Book all your activities through him/them and you'll get a good price. Don't bother with doing it via third party as you'll get ripped off. As for the room. Was comfortable, good bed. Spacious enough. Even seating outdoors for your own igloo/tent.

No iron, (hope he buys one after seeing this). Was generally clean. Could do with a bit of extra housekeeping, as the floor was a little dusty. Hope they invest in better quality curtains. Maybe some blackout ones.

The hospitality was so great along with warm welcome and flexible assistant showed by all.

I like the hospitality shown by your staff. They were very friendly and made sure that we are enjoying our stay. Especially Jihad, who guided us during the sunrise tour.

Location was very nice.

The location is exceptional and far from all the noise and other big camps. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful stay this is your destination. Very helpful and clear communication from the staff, they were very welcoming and flexible.
