Agora Kyoto Shijo

The location is ideal. You can easily commute to major attractions, and there are plenty of good food options nearby. The hotel is quiet and comfortable, making it a perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

The cleaning service was not great. We had to request a change of glasses despite asking for room cleaning. However, the staff was friendly and responsive — they rectified the issue and replaced the glasses the next day.

Het hotel was erg oud, afgeleefd en vooral heel vies. Onze kamer had allerlei vlekken in de vloeren en op de muur, daarnaast was het ook nog erg stoffig. De muren door het hele hotel hadden vlekken en beschadigingen waardoor het hotel er erg afgeleefd uitzag, ik zou dit aan niemand aanraden.

the staff is so nice

Appreciated the Sony 4K TV and soundbar (though why it’s needed at such a spec I don’t know)… amenities in the bathroom and a decent shower

Windows cannot be opened for air so reliant on a silly built-in air handling system which is poor. Senior gentleman at reception is super unfriendly, laundry services are only OK (no credit card so for foreign travellers it’s tricky without cash), ground floor often smells heavily of cigarette smoke, bar area is really inviting and a waste of space tbh, kettle is quite complex to use compared with others in Japan, shower room smells of damp if the door isn’t held open (but no means to do so) and just an excess of furniture in the room.

Nothing to like unfortunately

Very dirty with disgustingly stained carpets in the corridors, the lifts and the stains on the bedroom and bathroom carpets were unspeakable. Extremely poor breakfast offering

Room had limited natural light. Reception area poor and laundry room unclean by Japanese standards.
