GBHotel was close to downtown but away from traffic. The riverside itself is quiet at nights.
The venue does say that it's above a pub/bar, but the amount of noise from the venue is just not suitable for running a hotel. The building itself has no sound insulation and really needs to be completely gutted and redone. The bar is open until 1am producing sound that would prevent sleep without earplugs, being open late just isn't compatible with a hotel when the sound travels through the walls and the huge gaps in the doors like it did. The room door also had only a simple key lock and was not snug against the frame, security in the room was a real concern. The free wifi also didn't work at all despite trying on multiple devices, it would just disconnect after a few seconds if it connected at all. The staff absolutely tried their best with it but had no idea what to do or where the equipment was to event reset things.

The sister bar which was advertised as being open and food available at a discount was not serving food. We were told check-in was after 3pm but we could leave our bags after 1pm. Unfortunately the Lowther did not open until 3pm! As mentioned, the noise from the bar continued until about 1.30.

Room was a little small with having a sloped roof but it was extremely nice otherwise.
