Hyatt Place Leeds

A smart, clean and comfortable upmarket hotel, centrally located and within a few minutes' walk of the railway station and numerous shops, bars and restaurants. I was especially pleased with the very reasonable price for a solo stay (though I did book the room, two or three weeks in advance, as 'non-refundable'). The reception staff were polite, knowledgeable and helpful, and the comprehensive buffet breakfast, at £12, was value for money in today's economic climate. The attractive rooftop bar. a pleasant enough place to end the evening, affords a wide view of the city's nightscape. Finally, the room (which included a handy fridge) was spacious, spotless and comfortable, well in excess of what I had expected at the price paid. All in all, highly recommended, and I would certainly return.

My one minor gripe, applicable to so many modern hotels, was the impossibility of opening a window for some (relatively) fresh night air. I don't sleep very well in air-conditioned rooms, no matter how comfortable the bed, though I accept that many other people prefer them.

Location. Everything to a very good standard. Reception staff go over & beyond, very friendly & accommodating. Could drop bags off in the morning without any issue.

Bed slightly soft for my liking, but that is just personal preference. One slight cleaning issue, but nothing to raise with team (I know others would have).
