Heins Manor House

Very clean and well appointed room in the grounds of a wine estate.

Bathroom adjacent to a large uncurtained window on the ground floor. Internal shutters did not work. A pleasant courtyard was spoiled by plastic plants rotted in concrete and a disused and grimy jacuzzi. The advertised restaurant closed at 6pm making an evening meal impossible, no choice offered for breakfast - my wife, a vegetarian, was greet with a plate of ham, cheese, bacon and a fried egg. Sign age for reception and parking was unclear.

Beautiful old building with lots of history.

Our bedroom had a mouldy wall. Appliance cables handing mid air in an adaptor. Bathroom was the entrance to our bedroom with the toilet exposed to the passageway should one forget to lock the door. Second bedroom had a lot of random wardrobes. Think some were there to block extra doors. The pig smell depends on the wind and is just part of farm life.

The breakfast was lovely and Manor house is beautiful. JD is very friendly and accommodating.

Stunning historical building situated in beautiful surroundings with huge trees, lawns and vineyards. A Cute restaurant & deli with good coffee, friendly owners and restaurant/deli waitress. The fridges in both our rooms were much appreciated with outside temperatures soaring. Fantastic breakfast on the first morning of our 3-night stay and a good one on the second.

So much promise as all basics are in place, but sadly a missed opportunity. We get that it's a farm and that we stayed between Christmas and New Year, however after 2 days we had to ask for the shared (between 3 rooms of which we had 2) kitchen to be cleaned and a black bag full of (someone else's) rubbish to be removed from the middle of the floor. Breakfast absolutely terrible on the third (last) morning of our stay. Cold bacon, hard salami slices & a half-raw fried egg on a VERY old roll. Rooms and other guest areas in need of maintenance, with numerous signs of leaks and damp. The price would be more than acceptable once some maintenance is done, cleanliness improved and standards maintained.

Lovely Historic castle, with much lands around it. Great hospitality, very high ceiling, our room had even a free standing bath tub. You feel you were back in time.

Could use a little touchups of renovations inside the rooms.
