Caravan Hostel DC

Lots of amenities - free coffee and tea. And if you forgot your shampoo -- they have onsite body washes and lotions. I felt comfortable during my entire stay and my privacy was well respected.

The main positive of the hostel is it's location. There are a lot of bars and restaurants to choose from and even just a walk around is pleasant. The buses are also close by and easy to use. The room was as expected, they felt secure and were clean. I particularly liked the balcony area to the rear.

Staff were there but not particularly warm. There was little attempt to look up from the computer as you walked past or said "hello" to them. There was very little presence in the communal downstairs area also which meant any mess left by other residents would only get noticed when the cleaner came around. Added to this a group of us sat and watched as a staff member emptied the recycling bin directly into the general waste bin, before taking the consolidated bag out. Clearly the recycle bin is just for show.

The hostel is conveniently located for easy bus transportation. The staff is friendly. Hot coffee is free, which is a plus. water is available. Bathroom amenities are free. Please plan and pack your bags considering seasonal temperatures.

The kitchen area could use some improvements.

Friendly and helpful staff. Awesome area in DC with lots of great restaurants nearby. Comfortable room and clean bathrooms. There is a coffee, tea, and water station in the lobby that I LOVED and used daily. I especially liked the ice machine and filtered water they offered. This was a life saver during a heat wave I experienced during my 2 week stay in this hostel. There is also a kitchen, fridge, and space to store food in the fridge downstairs, which also saved me money on breakfast and some meals. I met lots of interesting travelers as the open area downstairs lends itself to meeting people staying at the hostel.

I would come back here to stay. I loved this place. I really liked this neighborhood of DC. I felt safe. There’s really nothing I didn’t like about the property.
