"Disappointing"

4.0

The food was delicious and the portions were generous, perfect for sharing. The location was also quiet.

The accommodation was quite run-down compared to other Amwani places we’ve stayed at in Palawan. When we arrived, there was no running water—only a bucket of brown water—so we couldn’t shower or even wash our face or brush our teeth. The bathroom wasn’t very clean or well maintained. The common areas were very limited: just three chairs at a small counter, and a tent taking up most of the space. We asked a couple of times for hot water to make coffee, since it was cold and raining, but they didn’t seem to care and just said they had no water, as if we were bothering them. It’s also unclear who actually works there, as there are many people sleeping around the place, and if you ask something they don’t know, they just tell you to ask someone else.

"We left withing an hour."

1.0

Location on the beach was glorious and the owner/host was very welcoming.

We didn't/couldn't stay there. The room was damp with black mould and although the beds were clean it was so very dank. The bathroom had numerous pairs of old dirty flip flops just left in it and there was no light in the room as it was down and very narrow alley on top of the broom/tents in front.

"Relaxing and comfortable"

9.0

- beach front - quiet area - accommodating staff - would be better if standard rooms have windows than can be opened for proper ventilation

- brown outs - no water sometimes - no WiFi

"Excellent. A good place to relax. Would love to come back again."

The beachfront location is amazing. You can easily walk along the long coast and enjoy the quiet island views.

The water pressure in the toilet and bath is weak. It can hardly dispense water in the lavatory faucet, the shower works, but due to the weak water pressure, I had to constantly turn on the faucet in the bath to fill up a large water container for bathing. Also, note that the water is a little salty. Several dogs were also outside. Although friendly, they defecate all over the shoreline, so you have to be careful when stepping on the sand. It's best to walk further along the coast far from where the fishing boats are located to enjoy the clean beach without worrying about stepping on some dog poo. Food choices are limited.

Worms growing in the shower head, not a lot of food options, we had to drive to the next town to eat, they where unprepared for us when we arrived.

I and my son has good time there. We stayed in tent for 5 nights. There are a lot of kids in this village then my son enjoyed with them a lot. People also friendly and nice to us. The owner is very kind person. Even I prefer to stay near calm beach but maybe we will come back cause we miss them.

Water smell is bad but I can understand everywhere the same in this island. They are using filter then hope it's better.

Amwani is run by friendly staff who are willing to help and serve you whatever they can cook at the moments from the ingredients they have. Although I expected this place to be simple and I do not need much, it was too basic for me. We found a dead cockroach in our room and this influenced my experience in this place from the beginning. Rooms are situated in a pretty dark sandy corridor. Bathroom is not clean and tidy. What is the great plus of this place is the beach where you can walk around 4-5 km one way. When we were there in the beginning of March the beach was totally empty and we felt like in heaven. Amwani campsite is situated in the local village in a walking distance from Bato ni Ninging.

We had a tent right in front of the beach, which was absolutely amazing and we extended our stay. Inside it, there's a fan and an electrical socket. There was no running water, but you can use the big bucket in the toilet to shower and if you're willing to adapt a bit, it's perfect. Big shot out to Angie, the cook of the place, she is unimaginably kind and welcoming and made us feel like at home. The village is small, quiet and really nice and it's good if you wanna find some peace. There's always many dogs and kids playing around.
