Cleanliness

Very polite and friendly management. Provided good breakfast and service. Without this excellent performance, I’d give the hotel 1 or 2 stars.

Sikkim so far has proven to be one of the cleanest and organized regions of India, but not this hotel or town. Locals seem idol, power outages, feral dogs outside. The hotel itself is 3rd class, despite costing 1600 INR (w/ room heater), and recommended only if you prefer not sleeping outside with the dogs. Dirty toilet, bed sheets are not always cleaned, stains on walls, floor covered in dust and dirt, no bottled water, and feral dogs going insane outside at night. I contracted pink eye (conjunctivitis) after lying on the bed / pillow within minutes.

Kanchanjungha can be seen from the bed and from the attached balcony. I always prefer a balcony for my hotel room. The manager is a bengali lady and she is also the chef. His cooking is awesome.

1. The hotel rooms are accessible from the road. The entrance of the hotel rooms are not inside the main door. The only protection is the door of the room. 2. For any hotel room in hilly area, full floor should covered with carpet for the comfort of visitors. In this hotel only some area of the room is carpeted. 3. The lighting of the LED bulbs seemed insufficient to me. 4. Cost of any food item in this hotel is quite high.

Location

Facilities were not that good. On the first day there was no accommodation available and I was put in an adjoining hotel, where I was allocated a dark indifferent room where the colour of the room was dark pink. They shifted me to the main hotel next room but there was water problem, which made things like shaving, toilet, brushing teeth very very difficult in light of the extreme cold prevailing conditions.
