Backup-Power Mountain View Trendy Apartment

The apartment was clean, very modern and had everything we needed. They thought of everything. They even had milk in the fridge for us that expired the day we left.

The remote for Netflix did not work and we had a bit of trouble with the wifi the first day.

Good location - safe and an easy walk to Kloof Street, bus stop and other places. Lovely view of Table Mountain, and the apartment is tastefully furnished.

Our stay started off on an irritating note. I was never informed where / how to collect the key, even though I asked. Anyway, it was confirmed that we could check in at 11:00. We sat at Reception waiting for about 20 mins, and upon following up, were informed that the apartment was still being cleaned, and that we could check in at 13:00. When someone opened up for us and we could settle in, there was load shedding, so no chance of making a cup of coffee or tea. Our stay was during the winter, and the apartment was chilly. There was a little blow heater which we used on the first evening, which was all right, but the next two evenings there was load shedding again from 20:00 - 22:00, so we were unable to warm up the apartment. That also meant no TV or Netflix or being able to use the kettle or microwave oven to heat our takeaways - really very unpleasant. Also, the extractor fan does not work during load shedding, so when one showers, there is a lot of condensation with water literally dripping down the windows. Although there was a back-up light and back-up for the internet, the installation of a decent sized battery for back-up use of the appliances is seriously recommended. There was also noise from one of the side streets below - parties, people shouting and revving their cars and motorbikes - this intensified over the week-end nights and went on until 4 am in the morning. Other minor things: A piece of the curtain (at the top) is falling off the rail, the base plate of the iron is badly "caked" and needs a clean, and there is a plug behind the couch which is not covered - safety risk!

Considering you sign a no noise tolerance upon arrival.....wait till 10 pm when long street becomes alive, can not leave the doors open for air during loadshedding as the noise from night clubs and drunk brawlers overwhelming, fire alarm went off every 30 min. Apartment not serviced once for a 5 night stay, no spare towels. every 2nd day should at least be a floor wipe and dust? maybe my expectations to high.

The property is clean and comfortable with a fantastic view and is in a great location. There is a designated parking spot in the multistory car park which is secure and convenient with an elevator straight from the car park to the apartment floor. There were plenty good facilities such as dishwasher, hoover, washing machine and a shared swimming pool. Cannot fault our stay
