Irungu Forest Safari Lodge

Breakfast and meals were very good with homemade bread.

They offered a safari and boat trip through the lodge for $50 each. They had one person named Innocent who joined us on the boat but then also served as our driver and guide on the safari. Typically the driver and the guide are separate. Because it was the same person he just followed around all the other drivers he saw. Not an ideal safari experience. He also said we had to pay him in addition.

Good location near Queen Elizabeth National Park, clean and good breakfast

Convenient location to explore various parts of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The proceeds of this accomodation are used to support a local orphanage and school. The children came to perform a 'thank you' song one evening. We left an extra donation, and the manager, Abel, sent us later pictures of how our donation was spent.

It's a bit pricey, about double what we paid at other similar places of the same comfort level, i.e. with the usual broken or crooked fixtures and no decent water pressure. It's right near a busy road with speed bumps that cause a lot of noise from passing trucks, so you'll need earplugs to sleep.

Lovely big room. Very private and quiet. You can see wildlife from the front balcony. Have to walk across the open area to the restaurant escorted at night because of the wildlife which is a bit of fun.

A bit far from the closest village. Food is expensive. Had a bit of a strange vibe. Perhaps maybe because we were the only guests.
