Minami Sanriku Hotel kanyo

Very spacious Japanese-style room, clean and bright. Good Wi-Fi. Enough power sockets. Strangely there's a separate small room with a single bed. The hotel is literally next to the sea, its sea view is fabulous from the balcony, and constantly visited by seagulls. Amazing sunrise as well. Check-in was smooth, a staff managed to communicate with us in Mandarin and talk us through the rather complex facilities within this hotel, separated into east and south wings. Ample parking space. Since we're driving, location is not an issue. Set dinner was amazing, we also ordered extra bonito set at a very cheap rate. A lot of dishes for its buffet breakfast too. Big indoor onsen at the south wing, not many guests though. More visited the one with both indoor and outdoor onsen at the east wing. A portion of the lobby is dedicated to a very meaningful exhibit of the 3.11 tsunami. One of this year's best 100 hotels & ryokans in Japan.

Our room's balcony is like a long stretch of walkway, shared with other rooms, need to be mindful to lock the balcony door, thus it's not that private. And need to be aware of the droppings on its handrail.

食べ物はメインが無いような。お刺身を期待してたが、とても残念でした。ここでなければ食べられないものとか、おすすめとか。

This is not just another hotel, it's a hotel that had a major roll in the help of this all village back in 2011 tsunami, they are making bus tour telling the story and in the hotel are pictures and album about the great tragedy . As for a hotel, it's very big! With great rooms, open view to the ocean, albatross coming to sit at the balcony amazing view

露天風呂♨️からの太平洋の眺めが最高でした！ 鮑の踊り焼きなど、料理も豪華でとても美味しく最高でした！ たくさんのカモメが部屋のベランダに遊びにきてくれて楽しかったです♪ 15年前の東日本大震災から、女将さんを初めスタッフの皆さんの努力、そして地域の皆さんのご協力で、よくぞここまで復興されたと感心しました！

南館から東館の露天風呂までの道のりが長かった点でしょうか。
