great location to northwestern university

the mattress is too soft and causes backpain. there is no electrical kettle for boiling water in the room.

Nothing but location. Very poor quality staff with casual attitude.

The staff were terrible. 1) I had paid for breakfast included rate and they refused to accept that and the first day I paid for breakfast. 2nd day they corrected their mistake but wouldn’t refund what I had paid for bf. 2) I checked out around 8:30am and the front desk person said she is not trained to check people out. Only the Manager can do it and the Manager may come at 11am or 3pm or anything. So had to leave without any detail. Now I DO NOT see any refund detail even though they charged $250 extra when I checked in. 3) The front desk staff especially Shawn was very incompetent and couldn’t answer any question and said I am not from here and don’t know.

Clean hotel and room, and pleasantly decorated (updated). Bed was comfortable and thermostat in the room worked fine. Staff were pleasant and professional (see below). Location is excellent - on the edge of downtown, walk to shops, restaurants and the lakefront. Sat. a.m. farmer’s market right behind the hotel (it’s a pricey market, though). No concerns about safety walking around the area.

Though pleasant to speak with, neither of the front desk staff could tell me even the most basic things about Evanston - neither knew which direction was Church Street, or even which direction to get to the El. They were clueless about the town. A traveler expects front desk staff to be familiar with the area. Though our room was booked for 2 people, there was only 1 comfortable chair for sitting (plus 1 desk chair). The desk chair would not be comfortable to sit in for watching tv. So, 1 person has to sit in bed to watch tv - bad for your back.

The facilities are pretty old and shabby. Need to renovate. The shower space is very narrow. Clogging is quite often. The carpet cannot say is clean. Lighting of the room is very cheap.

Location excellent. Clean room, and friendly staff. Great stay!
