Hosts were perfect

One night (18 May), family of four on the Tirthan–Kaza highway circuit. Pine View Retreat was a genuinely warm landing after the dramatic Sutlej gorge drive — and it punched well above what a transit stop needs to deliver. The hosts are the standout. Energetic, genuinely helpful, and the kind that make things happen before you think to ask. They offered laundry access — useful if you're coming from Tirthan and heading into Spiti — and were on top of every practical need without being intrusive. Views are excellent — Kinner Kailash visible clearly, which is exactly why you come to Rekong Peo. Rooms were clean and well-maintained. One practical note for families and guests with luggage: the room requires approximately 80 steps to climb. If you're travelling with very young children, elderly members, or heavy bags after a long mountain drive, factor this in and ask the hosts for assistance — they were helpful with luggage when asked. Common area has a TV, which was a welcome wind-down after hours on Kinnaur road. Rekong Peo is the last proper town before Spiti — ATM, pharmacy, market all accessible. We used the evening here to top up cash and stock supplies, and the property's location made that easy. Would recommend as the transit night of choice on this circuit. The host energy alone makes it memorable.

We initially booked Pine View Retreat Homestay for just one night, but ended up staying an entire week—and honestly, we still didn’t want to leave. What made this place so special were our amazing hosts, Ambica and her husband Pavan. Their warmth, kindness, and hospitality are unmatched. Ambica is nothing short of a superwoman—managing everything with so much grace, energy, and love that it truly felt like home. The homestay itself is spotless, peaceful, and surrounded by breathtaking mountain views that you can enjoy right from your room. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel at ease—comforted, cared for, and completely at peace. What stood out the most was the genuine connection the hosts create with every guest. They welcome you not as customers, but as part of their extended family. It’s rare to find such sincerity these days. One gentle reminder: this is a serene mountain homestay, not a city resort. So please come with kindness, patience, and a spirit of respect—leave the loud music and drinking habits behind. Embrace the calm, the nature, and the people here—and I promise, you’ll fall in love with the place just as we did. Highly, highly recommended. 🌿✨
