the abberton shepherds hut

I have stayed at the Abberton Shepherd's Hut before, will stay again every time that I am in that area (sadly not very often) and it suits my purposes down to the very ground. Its a lovely peaceful place, incredible freedom as well as provision of everything that I could possibly need. When the sun was out it was glorious sitting in the sunshine reading my book - then I cooked the ribeye steak which I had bought from the proprietors and its probably the best ribeye steak I have ever had. I had requested late check out and that was no problem at all. The whole experience was, as usual, an absolute delight.

Just one short comment, the outside wood bin did have wood logs in it but it wasn't fully stocked up - being a hot summer I wouldn't think that the proprietors would have expected the outside firepit to be used. However because my brother (also staying and on a mattress which was kindly provided) had brought a couple of cigars with him, we sat out in the cooling evening and chatted, and we did light the outside firepit. There is loads of windblown dead wood around and about so within 5 minutes we had collected all the extra wood we could have needed so it was no problem at all - but I was scratching around to try to think of something to say that I suppose at the margin had been slightly overlooked.

Beautiful location. Perfect spot away for a quiet & relaxing break. The hut is so unique with every small detail thought through to utilise the space perfectly. Friendly hosts & great to have the option to add a breakfast hamper.

I don’t know - as after having driven 2 hours there - the owners were no where to be seen.

The fact that I was left stranded as a lone female traveller late at night. Despite booking.com confirming the hosts had confirmed my stay their end, they did not show up and did not answer my calls or texts. Days later and they still have not contacted me to explain or apologise

Everything about the hut was so charming. Everything was so well thought out and so welcoming.

I didn't find one single thing I didn't like

Absolutely beautiful shepherds hut. Everything was so well thought out,the time and effort that the owners have put into this place really makes it so special and different from all the others. The hosts were so welcoming and we had everything we could possibly need. The breakfast pack was great too! Definitely recommend. My partner and I will be back. It was the perfect break away with our pups.

Nothing it was a wonderful weekend away.

It was so beautiful inside and out. So many little thoughtful things. We bought the breakfast hamper and pizza kit. Really nice food. Loved the fire pit. The hut smelled amazing as well. Wished we had stayed longer.

Couldn’t fault it.

The hut was beautiful. It had all the charm of a 19th century horse-pulled caravan but all the practicality of a 21st century overnight stay. It is a credit to the design of the hut that so many things could fit comfortably in so small a space. Our hostess was lovely and responded quickly and helpfully to any questions and the children had a wonderful time playing with Evie the dog. Being able to request steaks and pizzas to cook in the garden was a nice touch too.

We liked everything.

Bathroom slight smell occasionally ? Bit sewerage smell Flies but it’s next to farm
