Nice onsen

No contact with the staff so couldn’t tell. Can hear the train passing just behind the house. Main room a bit small for the table + bed.

It is clean and nicely designed. The private onsen was really nice.

If you’re traveling through Japan with suitcases, you cannot store them at the ryokan. We were quite surprised by this. While this wasn’t mentioned in the listing, every Ryokan we’ve stayed at before has provided luggage storage. So if you arrive early to explore Beppu and you have luggage, store it at Beppu station. There are some coin lockers (I believe until midnight) and if they are full you can store them at the tourist information centre (until 17:00). Both cost around 700/800yen.
