Easter weekend, 2024 Barb Smith Oberlin, OH Owner Dave Hughes is a Shamokin historian who spends time touring guests throughout this majestic "hotel," discussing the significance of the wall decorations, plaques, knickknacks, framed news articles, furniture, original wooden floors and the elaborate tin ceilings of the 10-11' rooms, throughout this amazingly HUGE, well maintained pre-Civil war, double walnut staircase historic home on Sunbury St. in Shamokin.We have driven by the home for 60 years and marveled by its look! SO great to have been able to finally see inside! I slept in the most comfortable king-size bed, ever! ,●●●● Dave walked me through the two rooms available for my requested upcoming stay. Each had the great ! chose the one with the full bath/shower combo over the one with a smaller walk-in shower. I booked the room directly above the front parlor, on the spot! That was thoughtful! Thanks, Dave! ●●● Coffee, tea, juice, bottled water, boxed cereal, muffins, and peanut butter, Tastykakes were available for breakfast! The lighting was kind of dim. Needed more lamps and brighter bulbs.
