"Great for a family holiday might well return."

9.0

Great location if you like walking and don't mind a 20 minute drive to great beaches. The nearby reservoir had mountain biking, swimming and canoeing on offer which we only realised just before we left. It also had a café which served hot food. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cooking equipment. It was great for our summer holiday but I imagine it could be a great winter get away too!

If it was raining it was a little hard to dry wet cloths in the house unless lighting a fire.

We had a lovely few days at Farthings Hook Mill. The cottage is really pretty, with beautiful far-reaching views, and it is very well equipped. Lots to explore in the area. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Farthings Hook Mill Cottage over the Easter holidays, with three children and my elderly parents. The cottage and the area was great for all of us, young and old. The cottage itself is beautiful, rustic, but without being in any way dilapidated, it's just a really nice environment. The underfloor heating kept everything balanced in what was quite a cool week, the beds were comfortable, the living room and kitchen had absolutely everything we needed, and everything was clean on our arrival. Juliet couldn't have been more helpful, with excellent, friendly communication before, during and after our stay. The grounds are large and pleasant, with a nice set up for eating outdoors, and plenty of areas for the children to explore, and being quite isolated it feels very safe. It was very pleasant sitting outside with coffee in the morning listening to the sound of the woods and the river running in the valley below, and watching the Buzzards play in the wind above the forest. The Wifi worked well during our stay, and on the couple of wet weather days we had, it fed phones, tablets, games consoles and VR headsets without an issue. On good weather days there was plenty do do within a short drive, with beautiful rugged coastal areas, castles, etc, but there are some really nice walks from the cottage too. Additionally the cottage is in a dark sky area, and while we didn't realise that before, and didn't have the right kit, and were there at a time that there was a little too much moon, I expect it would be a great place for astrophotography during Milky Way season. Of the list we made of things to do we didn't get through half of it, which is a great excuse for us to return, and we look forward to doing so.

There was nothing more we could have wanted.
