The lodge, the staff, the location

The game drives were limited to a small area. At no time was it explained when booking that the game drives would be limited to 30% of the Timbavati reserve. Secondly it was only once we booked that the T's and C's stated that if you are 65yrs or older you would need a medical certificate to do the walk. It was also not clearly stated that you would be limited to 1x game drive in afternoon and that you would have to do the walk in the morning. Deceptive advertising by the lodge!

Wir behalten Motswari immer in guter Erinnerung. Kleine Gruppen bei den Safari-Touren und äußerst nettes Personal. Auch das Essen inkl. Getränke ist von morgens bis abends herausragend. Ganz tolles Erlebnis und wir kommen gerne wieder!

Our stay at the Motswari Retreat was amazing! The rooms were beautiful, so thoughtful decorated and well equipped, the meals were delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. Desmond, the manager, is extremely friendly and was always going above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Marius, our guide, and Erick, our tracker, were excellent as well and we appreciated how passionate and experienced they were. Our chef, Eva, and her team were fantastic and every meal was outstanding, especially the outdoor bonfire/grill night. We cannot say enough great things about the Motswari retreat!!

Nothing, our stay was perfect.

Marius and Erik were the best guides. We learnt so much from them in the walking safari. The staff is lovely. The retreat is divine and has a lovely relaxing area both by the pool and in a veranda. I'd highly recommend you stay here for one night before checking in at their private game reserve for more game drives.

They forgot that I was vegetarian, so my main was sides for two nights in a row. They also forgot that it was my birthday and that we were celebrating our engagement.

We spent 2 nights in Motswari Private Game Reserve and it was an unforgettable experience! Wonderful food, service, exclusivity and personal attention. Our ranger, Marius was exceptional and made every game drive and our walking safari unforgettable. His trackers, Elvis and Misha was just as amazing with their knowledge of the animals and the bush. We saw 3 of the 5 "big five" in just 1.5 days of being there, thanks to these guys. The food and service at the lodge was beyond our expectations in every way. I was a vegetarian and they catered for me with exceptional skill and charm. The food was really outstanding, thank you Glenda and team! Our other hosts, Desmond and MJ looked after every detail and made our stay wonderful. Our room was large, luxurious and comfortable. We each had a great massage too (thank you Lerato), in a space where you can watch giraffes walk by... The setting of this private lodge is amazing, you overlook a river with giraffes and elephants walking by. We even had a hyena come close to us while sitting around the camp fire - so special. This was a once in a life time experience and we hope to be back again soon!
