The staffs were so friendly. I traveled alone, but during my stay in Kai Lions, I felt like I had a home to go back in Pakse. Because I knew that there will be someone waiting for me to listen to me, curious about what happened to me during the day. I guess it won't be easy to listen to every guest's story when every day they might talk about more or less same things. I really appreciate it.

We had an incredible stay at this vibrant and welcoming hostel! From the moment we arrived, the staff at the reception were exceptionally friendly and helpful, providing us with super valuable advice and all the necessary information to make the most of our loop in Pakse. We also rented our scooter directly from the hostel, and everything went smoothly—hassle-free and well-organized. Thanks to their professionalism, kindness, and positive energy, we had some of our best moments in Laos! A huge thank you to the entire team for making our experience truly unforgettable. Highly recommended – 100% worth it, without hesitation!

"Decent hostel that strives for good customer care"

8.0

The stand-out aspect of the hostel for me was the kindness of the guys running it. I was treated with great courtesy and caring. The hostel itself is fine: I think everything's been said in previous reviews: fixtures and fittings are all pretty new (dorms and washrooms), capsules are a decent size, comfortable sprung mattresses, air con. Great that they offered free water in reception. Useful too to have a laundry service with same day turnaround. I hired an automatic scooter from the hostel for 5 days in total, which was good in all respects, and I was given a spanking new helmet with pristine visor (having heard complaints elsewhere about visors so scratched as to impair the view through them), so was very pleased about that. Flexible hire period, free maps, free luggage storage. Passports required (as everywhere) but kept safely locked up.

It's been said before, and the explanation re freedom of a/c air circulation given an equal number of times (so I don't want to trigger it all over again) but I have to agree with others that a privacy curtain that effectively offers no privacy unless you keep your light off is at best impractical. Hopefully the management will seek to rectify this situation in due course by replacing the curtains with ones that are both breathable (as they wished) yet more opaque as required for any real privacy and found in most other hostels I've used. It would have been nice to have a sheet plus quilt on the bed, just to have a cooler sleeping option than the quilt alone, since the aircon seemingly got switched off the first night, and things got far too hot for the quilt provided. (Since this does sometimes happen in dorms, you ideally need some built-in bedding flexibility to cope with it.)
