Digwa Beach Chalet

An absolutely wonderful chalet - so well equipped, beautifully furnished, everything of excellent quality, in a truly fabulous location and with an extremely helpful and charming host in Christopher. The chalet is right by the beach with beautiful views towards Mahe and facing the setting sun. It has a beautiful little garden leading down to the beach - with sun loungers available. The verandah is lovely for eating breakfast, admiring the view and enjoying the birds. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped - the shower room was huge and had a fabulous hot power shower. The downstairs bedroom was perfect - with views of the sea. I did not use the upstairs bedroom/lounge but that too was beautifully appointed with lovely views. Christopher organised taxis, welcomed me with a big jug of freshly made juice, offered bike hire (if I had been staying longer I would have taken up the offer), showed me around, and promptly answered any WhatsApp messages. It was convenient for grocer stores, restaurants (I ate at Le Repaire in the evening and bought tasty snacks from ZR for lunch), and the Flycatcher Reserve - and yet quiet and private also. My only regret? I only stayed for two nights I WISH I'd booked a longer stay.

The accommodation and host were outstanding in every way. I just wish I could award it more than ten points out of ten.... and that I'd booked a longer stay. I cannot imagine a better place to stay on La Digue.

Spacious and clean chalet at the beach. The main tourist attractions are just a few minutes away. Chistoper is a very friendly host. He organized bikes and took us on a fantastic boat trip to Praslin and Cuieuse island. The beach in front of the chalet is safe for swimming, has enough shade and provides beautiful sunsets because of its western view. The garden has sun beds and an outdoor shower. I would totally recommend everybody to book one of these two chalets!

The only thing that we missed was a coffee machine. Because we didn’t want to drink instant coffee we bought our own. But that is really nothing.

Such a wonderful stay! The host, Christopher, went above and beyond to welcome us and make our stay wonderful. He arranged a taxi to meet us at the ferry and bring us and our luggage to the property (~150 rupees), and upon arrival he gave us fresh-squeezed juice and fruit off of his own trees! He had rental bikes available for us at the property, and he allowed us to only pay for the days when we used them. (My husband and I are not great bike riders, and we didn't use the bikes on a couple rainy days, when we lounged at the property watching the storms over the ocean, and briefly walked out to stores and restaurants with our umbrellas.) And Christopher was also incredibly helpful on our last day: our chalet was booked for a new couple, so he couldn't give us late check-out, but the other chalet was empty so he allowed us to hang out in the air-conditioning there for over an hour (between when we checked out of our chalet at 10am, and when the taxi to the ferry was picking us up at 11:30am). Since this was going to be an incredibly long day for us (ferrying back to Mahe, going to the airport, and then traveling for over 24 hrs back to the US), we really appreciated having a cool place to relax for that extra time in the morning, rather than having to wait around with our luggage in the heat at the ferry terminal! Overall, this was an incredible stay in a beautiful location.

Christopher was an amazing host. Very helpful and reliable. Bedrooms were comfortable with air conditioning.

Not a lot of space outside the bedrooms for meals.

Great location, direct seaside, close to famous and beautiful beaches, owner ( Christopher) will arrange everything for you if you need.. like: organize taxi, rent a bike, change the bike etc.. if you look for a great accommodation in La Digue and find this one free.. do not hesitate… book it.. :-)

Location excellent, Christopher the host very attentive, lovely modern bathroom, gorgeous views, private beach, would definitely stay again, we LOVED it. And La Digue is just so relaxed - hardly any cars which added to the island vibe. We hired bikes through Christopher and it was the best way to see the island, and I am an unfit 70 year old!!!

Nothing that I didn't like, my only suggestion would be for some way of keeping the air conditioning in the upstairs bedroom? Maybe with a door and a wall? The upstairs room is delightful and contains a sitting area which is open to the bedroom so it may be impractical? But this is so minor a point and in no way hindered our overall enjoyment of this beautiful place.

Everything was perfect location, the accomodation and especially Christopher very friendly and helpful I recommend you this place.
