Felt lucky to stay with this host family in a wing of their 180-year old home. All that you need thought of and provided. A bit of a walk up from town, easy tuk-tuk

We had a delightful stay at House of Merchants with Dhawala and his lovely and engaging family. Their beautiful home is in a peaceful local area (close to the Fort but tucked away from the busy tourist/ local areas), with parking for our rented tuk tuk. The guest accomodation area is spacious with all you need (including great air conditioning - plus open windows and fan if you choose) comfortable bed; reading lounge and fridge) - all with beautiful authentic simplicity characteristic of place and family! Do not miss out on all Sandya’s delicious authentic home cooked meals - the lamprais rice was fabulous! All in all, we highly recommend House of Merchants and Dhawala and family’s genuine hospitality is second to none. Thankyou so much 🌺

Home away from home What a nice discovery. After reading all the good reviews I had already a good feeling on arrival. The host and his charming family were extremely nice and helpful in every way. We didn’t want to eat in town as her food was so tasteful : the lady of the house with her sister was preparing local specialties and surprised us every time. The house was recently renovated in a simply way respecting the old charm of the 19th century family home, full of antiques and historical memories. The house had 2 bedrooms with private kitchen and all new amenities, air conditioning and hot water shower. The host brought us around in the old town and guided us around with nice stories about its colourful past. I came to Sri Lanka to look for my old colonial roots, were my ancestors started the tea cultivation in Kandy so discovering my host here in Galle is like cherishing my home abroad. Thank you Roger for your hospitality and this incredible life experience 🙏🙏🙏

It was very quiet, excellent air conditioning. Very friendly owners, very helpful with directions and getting around Galle and very nice breakfast

I personally would like an en suite bathroom, however this is something the property is working towards in the future.
