ZAZADO NOT STAY HERE – EXTREMELY UNSAFE This was one of the most terrifying accommodation experiences of my life. While sleeping at Edjami Guesthouse, someone actively tried to break in. This is not speculation — we have video footage, which is attached. After the incident, the owners admitted that there have been previous break-in attempts before us, and if you check LekkerSlaap, you will see another review mentioning a burglary. This is clearly an ongoing safety issue, not a once-off event. We were so frightened that we left on Christmas evening and had to find alternative accommodation immediately. I was staying with my 5-year-old son. Had the intruders succeeded, we could have been held at knife or gunpoint. This was not just uncomfortable — it was genuinely life-threatening. Despite the trauma, we tried to be reasonable. We offered to pay for two nights even though we only stayed one, and requested a refund for the remaining two nights we did not use. The owner refused to refund us anything. No empathy. No accountability. There is an alarm light visible from outside, yet the intruders were not phased at all, likely because the security company is far away, and the roads leading to the guesthouse are in terrible condition, making response times slow. This is also mentioned in previous reviews. If you are considering staying here, Google crime and murder statistics in Marloth Park before booking. We lodged a formal complaint with Booking.com, and even they acknowledged how serious this was by giving us credit as compensation for the experience. As someone who has previously been held at gunpoint, I do not say this lightly: do not book here if you value your safety or your family’s safety. Photos and video evidence are available.
