Villa Kali Uluwatu

The villa was in a great location, it was comfortable and the staff were great.

The only thing I’d comment on is that I ordered two bikes to be available when I arrived and they weren’t, also I felt like the accommodation was a little run down which is in need of a little bit of TLC here and Also, worth noting that if you have a fear of monkeys this may not be the place for you. If you can ignore them, they do tend to leave you alone.

First up, everyone is lovely. However, the Villa itself is not great. In three sections, bedroom 1, bedroom 2, living room with a pool in the middle. Everything is a bit tired. The doors are rusty and hard to slide open. I had to put a rubber band on the shower head to keep in place. The bathrooms are external so constant mosquitoes and flooding from the rain. The decking around the pool was uneven with nails sticking up. There was also constant construction noise which didn’t make for a relaxing time. Worse of all, the location sucks. If you have a scooter probably ok but as a family of four with kids it was really dangerous to walk anywhere. The entrance is on a blind corner with no shops right in between the two sets of cafes etc. Even though it’s a short walk either way we had to get Grabs every time. I wouldn’t stay again.

It was so peaceful and lovely. We had two nights and we just loved it. Easy to walk or bike to restaurants and cafes. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms are open to the elements but we really liked that. We would stay again.

Some of the wooden deck was a little wobbly. So was some times tricky to walk on especially when wet.

The staff was very friendly ! The location was pretty comfortable as there are many options for bfast, lunch or dinner at walking distance. Thomas beach at walking distance but we found it very dirty and little attractive. The Grab app is a great way to organize transportation. A padel court around the corner, laundry closeby, Papa Deli for some groceries, S.A.S. spa for nails or massage….

The Villa lay out and the pool where comfortable but we have quiet some feedback. We had to request assistance often, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The safes (both) could not be put to work, we needed batteries in the remote control of the AC, I requested a kitchen towel, dishwash soap, a clean pan, drinking water (we were without on Jan 1st and no replacement until the next day), the light bulb was never replaced. Kitchen accessories poor or dirty, at these rates you would expect the basic to be there like salt, pepper, oil, some coffee(filters) as most guests have to buy it all and then leave the leftovers - a common practice in similar properties. In general we were very disappointed with the state of the property. The deck is in poor state, the lid on the pool equipment room completely broken. Construction everywhere and the monkeys are a thing. I was afraid and one morning we had them swimming in the pool. Having to keep everything closed all the time is uncomfortable and not knowing if you find them in the bathroom is not a relaxed holiday. The bathroom felt dirty, I would never use the bathtub as shown on the romantic “spa” picture. I do not mind the outdoor shower as something experiential but that was not my feeling. Also as spending rain season in the Villa everything got wet in the bathroom. One had some sort of a plastic roof the other one not at all…. We stayed 9 days (over the holidays) but there is no place to hang a dress/ clothes nor hangers, which we requested and hung in the curtain rail. All linen is changed every 2 days but general cleaning and upkeep is poor. No cleaning materials, dirty/ used dishwasher sponge. I will not recommend the villa in the actual state and would stay in a more upscale property if I choose Uluwatu. At some point I cancelled 2 nights that I rebooked days later again, this time at a higher rate, it feels very presumptuous given the quality of the property…

The villa is very rundown with the communal living room area smelling of cigarettes. The air-conditioners don’t work well.
