Vivir Stay Hongdae

It was good for 4 people. Clean and comfortable. The host is very nice

Central, very close to several subway stations, and the walking shopping streets. Floor heating was nice, but wearing sandals all the time is a must. Laundry machine was fairly easy to use and fast!, though it only had instruments in Korean. Google Translate to the rescue! Smart-TV, internet, fridge and freezer all worked well. We only used the microwave twice (ate out the other days of the week), and never the stove, but it seemed to have all the necessary equipment. We were able to use the smaller room as luggage storage (lots of hanging space, but no closets), and my son could sit there with his computer without disturbing anyone. Kitchen table fitted four people, so we could both eat and play games there. Many power outlets to charge a family's devices. Waste was easy to sort and put out on the street on pickup days. Easy to use smart lock on the door (pin code). Apartment owner was easy to communicate with over the Booking app, and visited to fix some of the cold draught during the week.

Colder inside than expected. Heater turned itself off a few times, but the controls were easy to reset. The bathroom, and everything in it, was constantly moist, because of the cold getting in from the outside and not enough heat going into the room. Laundry room didn't have forced ventilation and the smell from the sewer was strong, and seeped into the living area whenever you opened the door. Cutlery was lacking forks, so I bought a few and left there. Because of the inconsistent temperature and moistness, it took unnecessarily long to dry clothes after washing. There was not enough bedding. Only a large double cover (although thick and warm) and three blankets, where two of them were too small to cover either of us, and the blankets were of course not so warm. Especially since the beds were right up to the window where there was a considerable cold draught falling in. (Owner improved the draught a little, and we never asked for more bedding.) The sofa bed was incredibly hard, and could have used an extra mattress. The outer hallway is completely unheated, so don't keep your shoes there, as they will be both cold and moist. We used some plastic to protect the floor and kept them in the inner hallway, which was also unheated, but whereto heat from the apartment (only separated with hanging drapes) could pass.

Appartment is not like on pictures, the sofa was broken and dirty, a lot of dust, cocroaches, plumbing is broken (sink is leaking), there was not enough bed sheets, pillows and blankets, bed was also dirty.

The location is top, just a short walk to Hongdae, but that's about the only positive thing.

First of all, we saw a cockroach on our last night which was pretty disgusting. It was just crawling around the ceiling. The flat was also full of mosquitos (and this was end of october) There was NO toilet paper which is a huge oversight. We bought some and left some for the next guests, so they wouldn't have the same issue. While the flat is very well located, it was pretty dirty and looked worse than on the pictures. The shower curtain in the bathroom for example was full of mold and the washing machine room stunk really badly of sewage. The bedsheets were also not clean. I think this stay is fine if you're on a budget and you don't mind things such as cockroaches or sewage smell, but I would not recommend this place for people who work from home for example as it was not pleasant.
