Hotel Campismo Praia Grande

Had a great 2 nights at campismo . This place is a gem with everything catered for every need. The accommodation is new ,well designed with good quality bedding and mosquito protection and is exceptionally clean its very comfortable all round and not what i was expecting. This is a proper high end Eco getaway and far from basic .I'd give it 4star all day long . Thomas is a great host , great food all fresh and straight from the ocean .He reads his guests well .and has fridge well stocked with soft drinks, juices , beers and nice Spanish and Portuguese wines and spirits. Local coffee is on tap it's so good. There's plenty to do here ,amazing clean beach and safe surf. All the toys are available from Boule to kayaking , fishing and hiking .plenty of board games and most importantly the best unlimited WiFi connection. There's hammocks slung everywhere with plenty of private chill areas on elevated platforms.its really been well thought out . Can't wait to bring the family thanks Paul

The location is perfect , one of the best beaches and you can see the sea from the bed, Tomas facilitates the visit , give good recommendations and is very helpful and supportive . Make you feel at home . Boiled Octopus dinner is Incredible , and we are used to eat good Octopus in Spain …

Simple but comfortable accommodation in a beautiful place, with immediate access to a large soft beach with shallow water, perfect for kids, immersed in nature and simplicity. Dinners with fresh fish were delicious (and abundant at very good price) and nice to enjoy in the good company of the owner and other guest!

I enjoyed the simplicity but found it a bit overpriced compared to more elaborated refined hotel/ecolodges in the area that offer similar prices

Tomas is an exceptional host, he looks very well after his guests. we had a very nice time swimming, kayaking, having local coffee or beer, hiked, saw baby turtles and enjoyed the awesome food!

People should not expect luxury but a trip back to the roots and raw nature and for that Praia Grande and Hotel Campismo is perfect. A once in a lifetime experience everyone should try at least once in their lifetime and the accommodations are just perfect for that blending perfectly into the landscape, but no AC and strong Internet but I think that is exactly what it is about. Plus the climate is tropical and people have to keep that in mind and given these circumstances the facilities and accommodations were as clean as they can be in the humidity. Tomas the owner was exceptional, friendly, helpful, his crew the same. I recommend to also book dinner. I will remember this trip! And carry a piece in my heart!

Middle of nowhere, so, you have the beach to yourself. I didn’t have my own transport, it made it harder to explore near by villages but the managed to explore. Simple accommodation but interesting. Outdoor showers, perfect view of the phalluc mountain. Near by river provides fantastic view of the phalluc mountain. Home cooked meals possible every evening. Fish or octopus like everywhere else in south.

A little piece of paradise on an amazing beach.

The nature all around is stunning. The bungalows are well placed to make nature the main centerpiece. The room had everything you needed. There is a kayak and SUP also for some activities.

The location is amazing, feels like another universe, far away from any hustle and bustle. The beach is huge and romantic and if you take a short walk to the end of it, you can get a great view over Pico Cao Grande. Since there are no restaurants nearby, it’s worth taking dinner at the hotel. I had the most amazing home made food here! Breakfast is simple but nice and there is real coffee! The room was spacious and very clean, there are mosquito nets over each bed.

Nothing really. Maybe a mirror in the room would come handy.

Das Camp ist ein idealer Ort für den Süden der Insel. Es ist weniger ein Hotel, vielmehr ein Campingplatz mit Hütten und Anschlussmöglichkeiten zu anderen Gästen wie in einem Hostel. Man trifft sich zum Abendessen im Gemeinschaftsraum, zum Austausch und Unterhalten. Besitzer Tomas kocht für einen schmalen Taler. Im Kühlschrank steht Bier oder Wein. Abgerechnet wird am Abreisetag. Nur schade, dass Tomas kein Englisch spricht, so ist die Konversation ohne Spanischkenntnisse schwierig. Der Strand ist traumhaft, hier bist Du alleine. Die Hütten sind gut vor Sonneneinstrahlung geschützt, mit dem Nachteil, dass manchmal eine Nuss laut aufs Dach knallt, was in der Nacht nicht so toll ist. Aber so ist Campen in der Natur. Es gibt WLAN, allerdings nur rund um das Gemeinschaftsgebäude. Nachts wird es abgeschaltet. Die Ortsbeschreibung bei Expedia stimmt nicht, es liegt weiter nördlich. Achtet auf das Schild "Praia Grande" am Straßenrand. Bringt genug Lebensmittel mit, der nächste Supermarkt befindet sich in der Hauptstadt, wie auch die nächste Tankstelle.
