"Quirky, compfy, peaceful."

Stayed in a land pod - the bedding and bed were probably the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. Chilled out in the evening in the main building, felt like I had the place to myself. Drying room was a massive bonus as got soaked during the day!!!

Smelled a bit…. but so did I after hiking all day so all good.!!

"Very nice YHA just outside Castleton"

Very nice YHA just a few minutes' walk from Castleton. The building is beautiful. We booked a single room on a weekday for a great price. Our room was clean. Staff was nice and welcoming. Dinner was good. Great stay.

"My particular room was way too hot and noisy from the corridors"

It was a great location, very clean, great facilities and good value.

The room I was given was incredibly hot and radiators were off, window open 🥵 (still way too hot). I asked staff if they had a fan and the answer was no. They had no other room to move me to and informed me that my room was above the boiler room (room 7B). I sweltered all night and felt sick from it. To add to this, the room was end of a corridor, next to 3 exit / corridor doors. They were being opened and slammed shut repeatedly until after 1am. I wasn’t able to get to sleep due to this and the heat until 3am and still got up at 5am for my sunrise Mam Tor hike. This unfortunately ruined my stay and my sleep for days afterwards. For that reason, I would be reluctant to book there again.
