Udawalawa Adventure Camping

There are 4 charming cabins at the river (the fifth is a ruïn now). There is potential to become a great resort. Beds are beautiful, all made out of wood. But, in Sri Lankan-style: quite hard and only sheets. In the bathroom, you get an outside experience, yet very private. The guy that runs the place doesn't speak much English, but does his outmost best to make your stay wonderful. We got a tasty welcoming drink. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast here, which was good. It was made and served with love, we think.

Not the cleanest place. Ants run the cabins, they are everywhere. There was a nest inside the rock-water-thing; when I turned on that water, I obviously disturbed them, because they came running out with all their eggs and all. And they weren't the only pests inside. We didn't dare walking around barefooted. The wobbling of the table was caused by termites, we think, cause a part was sawdust already. It is hard to get a good water temperature from the shower. It is either too warm or too hot. In the middle of the night, things start falling on the roof, which made a hell of a noise, like every 10 minutes, Just when you fall back to sleep... Sounded like falling coconuts on a tin roof. Or maybe it were the monkeys, don't know.

We stayed at Freedom Eco Resort in Udawalawe, and it was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and friendly. The location is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by nature. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food was incredibly delicious. If you're ever visiting Udawalawe, I highly recommend this place – it's definitely one of the best spots to stay.

This is a hidden gem in Udawalwe.One of the best destination in Udawalawa for anyone seeking tranquility and relax with nature.The rooms are beautifully designed which go with eco theme.They arranged a BBQ,Bonefire and night camp by the river bed upon our request.Waking upto fresh air and breathtaking view of walawa river was a wonderful experience.Meals were delicious.The staff was friendly and kind,always making us feel welcome.Their safari was excellent.They plan to start some adventure events in near future including zip line across the river at the first time in Udawalawa.We will definitely visit again to gain that wonderful experience.I highly recommend this place for anyonre seeking a serene and eco friendly getaway.

It was a great place for our relax weekend. They arranged a nice jeep and experienced driver for our Udawalawa national park safari. Prepared our meals as we requested fullfilling the demand of our kids tummies. Was delitious.
