The Caldera Villas

The Villas are a bit basic but you get everything you need and more. The swimming pool and the common areas are well kept and after trying a few places in the area, you won’t find much with this high quality. The only thing is that you need your own transport to reach in and out. The location is quite out of the way. Grab doesnt work in that part of the island so they would have to arrange transport for you. The staff is the thing that exceeds expectations, they’ll go beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I even forgot a pair of headphones and the manager was kind enough to arrange with a family member to get them to me 3 hrs away. Incredibly kind! Best people ever!

The step into the bathroom is a bit dangerous. Its on the outside but there is a big gap in-between. You need to be extra careful. Also the location is a bit out of the way and not restaurant options near by. With your own transportation is all good.

It was very clean, has a pool and love the greenery surrounding it. Komang cooked me amazing food throughout my stay and offered me tea when I arrived. The hosts were very hospitable.

Location wise it was far out from everything which made it a bit inconvenient to go around. Better to rent a scooter or if you have a means of transport already to stay there.

Only very nice wife of the owner and that is why we add 1* to our rating. She was very kind and fun. And the clean bedsheets. Unfortunately the rest was so poor we can’t rate higher because it would be dishonest of us.

We are an are this is not expensive place so we did not expected nothing luxurious. However, what we experienced would be acceptable only in a place for few € max I guess. We booked deluxe villa and when we checked in it was still dirty from previous guests! There was still full trashbin and other things, just dirty. So we asked for downgrade and got the price difference in cash which was ok. Unfortunately the second, which was supposed to be clean was filthy as well… (I’ll include photos). Swimming pool was also filthy. There were plenty of flies everywhere. It was noisy and unpleasant. In general we booked to stay closer to the trekking and not have to wake up but seeing attitude of people in the village and how things work we would rather stay somewhere remote and just travel to the mountain and back how it’s usually done. That’s what I would reccomend to anyone considering staying in that area. Attitude of the owner- upon arrival we had problems with getting there because in google maps the place has different name and there is the same place or identical with different location, so we got lost. We could not reach the owner for a long time and when he spoke with our driver he refused to help us and our driver said he wasn’t too friendly (which is expected in hospitality).

The hosts are wonderful, always ready to help with anything you need. They made us dinner, breakfast, helped us book a tour for mount batur (would recommend) and a taxi for the next day. Thanks!

We got sent the wrong address 2 times which made us a bit stressed. All good in the end though.

the owners are really welcoming, u can ask for food its soooo good, they find driver and tour easily for good prices. the minus its far from everything, but you can ask for driver easily. We did the hot springs, sunrise and lava trip that was so great.

Hosts were very accomodating and helped book us on a sunrise hike of mount batur. They made us breakfast and drove us around to get dinner and find an ATM. The villa itself was clean and had relatively fast WiFi. Beautiful plot with great views.

The location is a bit far out. No Grab or Gojek so just be aware. Your best bet is hiring a scooter or asking the hosts to find you a driver.
