Remote wild location

Simple interior

The location is amazing for everyone who likes remote places and the house and the patio look very nice. The view, particularly in the morning, is very nice and and the nearby little beach is amazing.

There were two very important weaknesses: the beds were very uncomfortable (we basically were unable to sleep) and there was no WIFI. The place would be nice for working remotely (which we planned) but without internet it is difficult. When we were there it got dark relatively early and when you get back there is very little to do, even the TV has only five channels (all Portuguese) - Internet would help here as well. There no shops, restaurants, whatsoever around, so it would have been nice to leave at least some coffee and basic stuff there. The other house (also for letting out) are very close, it was empty when we were there but I can imagine it is not very quiet when there are guests there.

Nice view from the terrace. Great place for listening to Cagarros. If you are easily annoyed by loud birds, don't book this place. In August, every night between 8pm and midnight we would listen to these hilarious birds. Nice and calm village wibes. Some of the equipment (fridge etc) is modern and new.

Some people were burning trees nearby for the whole duration of our stay. The whole village was covered in smoke for days. Dirty laundry of previous guests was left in the washing machine. Owner does not live on the same island. Can't do anything personally if you need help. We needed a ventillator, which he could not deliver. Driving there is a terryfying experience. If you have a crappy rental car, don't even try driving to the place. I tried it once and decided to park further away. No Internet, very bad reception outside, almost no reception inside the house. Some of the cutlery, tools, clothing rack, should be thrown out and replaced. You have to have a car to do anything on the island. Lots of mold inside the house.

The view was beautiful and the beach nice. It has the potential to be a nice spot if someone cared enough about the property and guests.

Absentee landlord who lives on a different Island isn't taking care of the property. Many broken things and safety issues. No one met us as advertised and was hard to find. Huge surprise to see that we had to carry heavy luggage down a long, steep lava rock pathway. Couldn't figure out how to turn off the antiquated stovetop and needed immediate help but he gave us an answer that acknowledged that he didn't know how to turn it off since all the markings were eradicated from the stovetop. It took a long time to figure out since the elements stay warm for quite a while which interfered with our plans to leave the building. We were not helped even though he said he would send someone yet did not even when we contacted him again. He never checked in to see if we were ok. Some patio furniture was broken and others held together with plastic ties. No table cloth for a splintered wooden table. The shower door doesn't close so water goes everywhere. The washer was broken yet didn't send a message to us to let us know so we could plan better as we could have done the laundry at the last stay. The sofa does not pull out for a bed so the landlord had an air mattress as the second bed. The bed in the bedroom is quite hard. The floorboards on the porch are lifted and loose causing us to trip a lot. The pots were missing handles and the pan's coating scratched away which is another safety concern. There was a dresser but all the drawers were full of linens etc so only a small armoire for everyone's clothing. No screens or fans and it's super hot inside so we had to keep the windows open letting in insects and one lizard. When I asked him if there were screens and voiced my concerns, his flippant answer was "no one else complained". I have pictures of proof.
