The food at the restaurant next to the reception is the only good thing I can say about this hotel. I would go there for lunch but I would avoid checking in at all cost. Once you go beyond the reception, it all goes downhill from there

There was a thick stale smell/stench in the hallway leading to the rooms. The rooms were tiny, very dirty and aged. We found a spider on the chair in the room, mold in the blinds, the blinds had sharp edges that could cut you if you weren't careful, mold in the bathroom, dirty and very old carpet. We were so concerned about things crawling into our bags that we did not open our bags all night. We arrived so late that we had no option but to stay the night but we were checked by first light the next day and we immediately went to a different hotel nearby. Any other hotel in the area would have been cleaner than this place and that is not an exaggeration. We literally went to another hotel that was 5mins away and it was much cheaper and much cleaner. This hotel is doing the 'Ibis' name a disservice! My sister was meant to stay 2 nights and when she asked for refund for the second night she hadn't used, due to the state of the hotel, the manager tried to convince her that there were better rooms on the 3rd floor but we went to check out those rooms and they were exactly the same, save for the stale smell. Even the staff are aware of how bad it is. A few of them inadvertently revealed through indirect remarks that they were receiving quite a high number of requests for refund. Having stayed there myself, I can see why.

Location is okay. Breakfast was good and fit for purpose. Rooms average.

Room settings, conditions need upgrade. Some door locks need attention.
