We recently spent three nights at Rumah Tengah Sawah, approx 40min from Ubud. From the moment we booked, the owner Ayu went above and beyond to ensure our comfort—especially as I was recovering from a fractured leg. Ayu thoughtfully arranged airport transport and coordinated with our driver to drop us directly at the villa, avoiding the narrow farm road that leads to the villas. The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. Ayu and her team were always available and incredibly attentive. When I fell ill on the first night, Ayu kindly had her staff prepare a soothing ginger and honey tea and even offered to arrange a doctor’s visit, a thoughtful act of kindness. The accommodation was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. There’s a well-stocked and clean local shop—Toko Kartika Jaya—nearby for essentials. We also indulged in the 60-minute Spirulina Facial and 120-minute Massage with Warm Stones, both of which were incredibly relaxing and highly recommended.

The location is remote. Sekar 1 Villa is closer to the main road and Warung Semana, a local restaurant, making it a lot noisier at night and during the day with constant traffic.

Would be nice to have a kettle water for every room.

Nous avons passé un super séjour chez Ayu. Le cadre est parfait pour se reposer, très calme au milieu des rizières. La chambre est propre et spacieuse et on s’y sent bien. Le petit déjeuner est très bon et la piscine fait vraiment la différence. Nous recommandons sans hésiter ce lieu proche d’ubud pour des voyageurs qui souhaitent être tranquille

Très belle villa avec piscine privée, le décor était très joli, le petit déjeuner excellent et le personnel très agréable et à l’écoute, communication fluide.

Pros • Quiet rice-field location.

Cons • AC trips the power. • Desk unsuitable for work. • Bat droppings on bed; cleanliness lacking. • Missing basics on check-in (no mugs/cutlery). • Safe advertised but missing; installed only after days of follow-up; late instructions/PIN. • Patchy internet. • No kitchen; bathroom sink blocked when washing fruit. • ~1 hour by car to Central Ubud each way (time-consuming and costly). • Communication difficult. • No mosquito nets (windows/bed). • Cheap breakfast/amenities (plastic cutlery, repetitive fruit).

The room and bed were comfortable.

The previous reviews here are misleading. The resort is very far from any places in ubud. It is not reachable by car. The view is not good, there is some hut and road right in front. The property is not well managed. The locks are creaking, sundecks and outside area is not clean or usable. It was having spiders in bathroom when we checked-in. The light in room was sparkling which looked dangerous and there was hardly any experience staff to handle it. The staff is sweet but not professional, it was really hard to communicate because they didn't knew english at all, specially the night guy. The bathroom lacked ventilation and there were no bathrobes. Lastly, the breakfast was not good for the price. It has very limited just one option. You can get much better stay options in this price in Ubud. Dont go by the rating, its false.
