The Cabin

Great stay for those who like animals. Friendly horses and donkeys behind the property, and a chilled cat named Oreo who will come to the back porch every morning to greet you. The property had everything we needed including a well stocked kitchen, good heating, comfortable beds and sofas, washing machine and other useful amenities. Host was always responsive and helpful. Nearest village Lea is only a 15/20 min walk and has a small shop, pub and bus stop to get to places like Gloucester and Ross-on-Wye.

I needed a clean winter getaway. I wanted quiet, comfort and well-equipped facilities. This was it: For almost 3 weeks.

The sofa wasn't quite supportive enough. I didn't ever quite get the heating to stop reverting to settings other than what I wanted.

Perfect little getaway, quiet , no light pollution , countryside setting. Lovely view of horses in the field and Oreo the mog was lovely . Cans of pop and milk in the fridge which was a lovely touch , lovely hosts .

Spacious, clean, lovely view, value for money & little extra supplied; fresh milk, soft drinks, tea, coffee, sugar & dishwasher tablets provided. The hosts were charming & very informative.

The accommodation included everything required for our stay and it was perfectly located to enable us to visit Dean Forest, Ross on Wye and Cheltenham . The hosts made us truly welcome

Our stay at The Cabin was perfect in every way. Steve and Karen were fantastic hosts and it was the best we could have found. It was spotless, well-equipped, peaceful, comfortable - all we could have asked for and more.

Our first experience of self-catering was much better than we expected. The space available was much bigger than you get staying in a hotel or B&B. Plenty of room for bags and having a separate lounge from the bedroom was so much better than all in one. The location was perfect for exploring the Forest of Dean/Wye Valley area with all the main attractions within a short drive and towns to explore not far away. The setting on a farm was beautiful with horses in the next field and owls, rabbits and birds of prey sighted/heard. Quiet and peaceful. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy, as was the sofa. The kitchen was well equipped and everything was very clean. Lovely soft towels too! We couldn't have had a better first experience of self-catering and will now be looking for more places as good as this as we explore other parts of the country.

As one of us is a coffee lover, a filter machine would have been nice but some good coffee bags were left for us and that's not a bad substitute. We didn't like having to leave the gorgeous cat "Oreo" behind! Be aware that he WILL want to come in and will sit outside the window for ages in hope...

Fantastic place to stay. Lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting. Host was lovely. Will definitely be booking again.
