Sonesta Essential Van Buren-Fort Smith

This place gets points for having 3 ev chargers. The room was nice. It was super clean. Bed was comfortable. The staff was super accommodating.

This hotel is in the middle of a major renovation so loses points for not letting people know before booking. Many of the rooms are not available and those that are available are still not totally Also, it was listed as having breakfast but that was not possible because of the renovation.

Well, we stayed in late December and the hotel is under renovation, which really plays into the review. The room was fine, as it had already been renovated, but there was no carpeting...all tile flooring.The fridge was nasty on the inside, so we could only use the freezer part. The heater did work well to keep the room warm. The hotel lobby and hallways were dusty and dirty due to the renovation activity, and there was stuff stacked in the first floor hallway. Luckily we were on the first floor as there is no elevator. We were the only guests in the hotel for the night, which is a rather odd feeling (maybe I've seen too many movies where that is the part of the storyline). The location is actually difficult to get to and Apple Maps had trouble directing us to the hotel because you have to weave your way through parking lots to get to it. We finally spotted the hotel and were able to make our way to it without assistance from Maps. While normal Sonesta hotels have been quite nice, this Sonesta Essential was underwhelming and will not be a choice in the future.

Brilliant customer service . Shuttle was waiting for us at the airport. Really friendly and considerate gentleman. Great communication throughout. Perfect for our needs and very relaxed.

It was quiet. Gentlemen at the front desk was very friendly.

Needed something else to drink at the breakfast bar. Only had coffee and tea, no juice. Nothing would stay plugged in the bathroom. Had to press in the plug for the hair dryer and curling to stay on. As soon as you let go they would quit. Very inconvenient.

It was clean. The location was good. The room was spacious. The bath products were great. I appreciated the nightlight in the bathroom.

It was difficult to figure out how to get to the property after exiting the interstate. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. The bathroom lighting was very poor.
