Located in Samburu reservation with unique fauna. Possibility to look at the animals coming to the water pond.

We encountered some communications issues with the local management. The hotel is in the middle of the reservation and quite far from the concentration of most animals that are close to the river.

Loved our stay here. The room was big- 2 four poster beds with great mosquito nets and a secluded balcony made it perfect. All meals were buffet and had a whole lot of choices. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend staying here.

Mooi en groots opgezet, in traditionele bouwstijl. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Fijne en schone kamer met klamboes boven de bedden. Geen airco maar die hadden we niet nodig omdat het in de nacht voldoende afkoelde. Uitgebreid buffet voor de maaltijden met voldoende vegetarische opties. De bewaker nam wat tijd en liet ons op een donkere plek de sterrenhemel en melkweg zien.

Enigszins lange en vermoeiende rit tot je bij de rivier bent waar het meeste wildlife zich bevindt. Dit maakte het lastig om zo vroeg of laat mogelijk bij de rivier te zijn, wanneer de dieren het meest actief zijn.

The best asset of the lodge is its staff, Berald and Martin are great managers. Also Chef Chris needs mentioning, he understood we like cheese; all staff is friendly. The lodge has a wonderful pool. The grounds are well maintained, it is also very clean. The breakfast pancakes, and dessert cheese are delicious. When our car had a puncture we could get it fixed relatively easily.

The room was so fully stuffed with 2 big beds, luckily one could be taken out which changed the whole atmosphere for the better. It would be advisable to be informed before arrival what is the best route to the lodge, we took a road that was barely passable (though there was a Sopa Lodge sign) and damaged our car, loads of serious acacia scratches. Later we found out we should have taken another road. More variety in the buffet perhaps? We would have loved to see more and more varied salads. But in general the buffet was quite ok. We did not like a big screen in the bar area with sports, even if it was without volume. It spoils the atmosphere a bit. The Booking.com info was not entirely correct.

Absolute peace and quiet in nature.

I think the bathroom should have support handles for safety.
