Shangri-La Jakarta

Very comfortable, quiet rooms. Really enjoyed the relaxed hospitality and great value. Staff are lovely and welcoming. Would recommend and will stay again. My friend who stays in many hotels in Jakarta was impressed also.

A lovely hotel that lives up to what you’d expect from a Shangri-La (I’ve stayed at quite a few others around the world). So, overall, it’s of an excellent standard, with lovely facilities, a very nice Club lounge, and extremely helpful and friendly staff. The Chinese restaurant offers excellent value for money. The garden is very beautiful, very well maintained and a haven of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of this megacity. A few minor drawbacks, however (see below)

Firstly: a shirt (from a well-known French brand) has mysteriously disappeared from our room. I had it with me when I went up in the evening, and the next day after the room had been cleaned, it was gone. I reported it and the staff and a manager apologised profusely; they treated us to dinner and seemed very embarrassed. I’m not accusing anyone of theft, but the fact is I no longer have it. Second point: on Saturdays, the pool is overrun with children and ends up feeling more like a kids’ club than a quiet 5-star hotel. The pool area is also equipped with a large slide and a children’s play area with numerous water games. This probably explains it. Third point: my wife and I were in our swimsuits (normal ones, not particularly revealing) and we – especially my wife – felt rather uncomfortable, even ostracised, by the rather intrusive stares of other guests. Indonesia is a Muslim country, but we have stayed in many other hotels of this type in other Muslim countries and have never felt this way before. Finally, the standard of the food and the quality of the wines at the Club need improving. They are not on a par with the hotel’s other facilities.

Wspaniały hotel. Doskonała obsługa. Pokoje są bardzo zadbane, nawet wieczorem przygotowują łóżka :) bardzo wygodne łóżka. Urozmaicone śniadanie, każdy coś wybierze dla siebie. Niesamowita obsługa w restauracji. Fajny basen, można odpocząć choć wydawało się że jestem w zatłoczonym miejscu ale tam można się poczuć spokojnie. Na pewno powrócę z przyjemnością jak zawitam do Jakarty. Polecam spróbować ciastka w holu w kawiarni - doskonała czekołada.
