New Kahuna Cabanas

So after arriving at this place, we definitely could not stay. Honestly the huts and surrounding area is a complete shit hole. There was holes in the floor, the shower head was at about 5ft high and the tap broken off, tried turning it on and out came a dribble. The garden was filthy, everything was filthy! After a long journey, we had to scrabble around to find 5 hotel rooms. Not fun in sweltering temperatures with a load of luggage. Don’t book this place, its not worth $5 a night!

We literally left after 2 minutes. This is how long took us to book a new place. Pictures were so deceiving literally like a Tinder profile. If you into partying and don’t mind to sleep in questionably clean bed . Give it a try . On the other side, the owner didn’t take any money from us even tho we arrived very late at night . So that’s all on the plus side.

The new Kahana cabanas are located on a great spot. It's an oasis of peace in the mayhem that is called Unawatuna. The staff is friendly and helpful. The problem is that the cabanas are outdated. The bed was hard, the mosquito net was too small for 2 beds, and the shower pressure was very low. If they can fix this the place is a goldmine. Compared to many other places I have seen in sri lanka, this was overpriced, but so is everything in Unawatuna. The second night, a neighbor was turning her TV on at max volume around 7.30 The third night, some girlfriends of the owner slept next door and woke me at 01.00 and 03.00 because the cabanas were a bit noisy. Especially don't go to the restaurant next door!! They're a bunch of cowboys who came at me for a sigaret after 1 minute I sat down, ignored me for 5 minutes, brought me an stone cold and dry Mahi Mahi and after ignoring me again for 10 minutes I left. +close to Galle, which has a beautiful historic fort. +location

The people were so lovely and helpful! Great location ATM right out front doctors and message place all right next to where you stay!

Could have air con but for the price it was perfect.
