Salt Life Hideaway

I did struggle to enter the front door but was quickly aided by your host/manager who was really helpful and sorted everything out and explained it to me. Thank you. Also thank you for allowing me to stay an extra day . Quickly sorted and was really grateful . Parking - I knew and expected a problem so well prepared!

No signage to show Salt life Hideaway and lighting outside is poor so I did struggle to establish premises and was confused re keypad and keysafe but once explained - fine.

The entrance door lock was broken, which meant the property was not secure, as anyone could potentially enter. This was particularly concerning. The main issue was the complete lack of hot water, which was not available during the stay. This is a basic and essential service, and its absence had a significant impact on comfort. The property was not properly cleaned upon arrival. Additionally, the shower drain was completely blocked, and I had to purchase chemical products myself in order to unblock it and be able to use the shower. The kitchen area was poorly lit: one light was completely missing and the second one was not working, leaving the kitchen very dark and impractical to use. There were also maintenance issues, including broken door handles, which affected both usability and safety. I contacted the property during the stay to report these problems, but received no response, and none of the issues were addressed. Overall, the accommodation did not meet basic standards of safety, cleanliness, maintenance, or functionality expected for the price paid.

The locatiion

The apartment was ice cold - I literally shivered myself to sleep and kept sneezing. I barely caught any sleep and ended up having to power my way through the conference I needed to attend the next day with strong coffee. A few of the dishes were dirty, the bathroom sink was pooling with water and there were cobwebs around the bathroom window. The decorative pillows and rug looked worn and dirty too, I didn't feel comfortable walking barefoot and I took all the decorative pillows away from the bed so I didn't have to lie on them. There were a couple broken door handles too, the property is clearly in need of maintenance. I don't know if things were like this because they haven't had someone in the property for a while, however, whatever the excuse may be, they were not prepared for my visit. I'm just sooo shocked because this property had high 8 ratings for cleanliness and other things and mentioned they had central heating. I messaged the host about the heating at the time and they only responded to me with explanations on what had happened well after I had checked out of the property, and to be honest I wasn't satisfied with the excuse of why my messages were not responded to or the silly smiley emojis and offer for a discount next time round that were used to pass off my experience as something small! - It literally took me the whole of Saturday to recover from no sleep in the property, so why would I book the property again next time?! They mentioned that my messages about heating issues were buried under other messages that they were getting due to them having a building with no power, but I also called them because things were so bad and they never picked up or responded to my call. I've used booking.com many times and have never been disappointed, it's just such a shame that this has ruined that track record.

Comfy bed. Clean and tidy. Close to shops and beach. Allowed me to check in early, with easy check in. Very good communication.

We were going to cook but there was no oven trey or pot. Also would have been good to have a sponge and washing up liquid. But these are minor things.

The location was great. The host was very friendly and helpful. The bed was really comfortable

It’s wasn’t as clean as it should be and I couldn’t use the Netflix as they had a pin on it. Did message them a few times and got no reply
