We had a quiet comfortable night of sleep. Elaine and Scott were very good hosts, and very helpful with local area.

Needed a room on short notice due to ferry cancellation, and Scott was most helpful in getting us in for the junexpected 2 night delay. Location is halfway between Stornaway & Tarbert which worked out well as CalMac first rebooked us on the Stornaway departure then changed us back to Tarbert a day later, so Loch Erisort was about the same drive time to either one. Location itself is quiet & peaceful, out in the countryside with grand views of the mountains & bay. Our room was large and comfortable, and the ensuite bath was as well.

The overall experience was disappointing and did not reflect the £152 per night price. On arrival, the room was cold and the radiators were not producing heat. After I mentioned this to Scott, the thermostat was turned on and the room gradually warmed up. The biggest issue was the shower, which had very low water pressure and was not really usable. When I raised this, I was initially advised to use the bath instead, although Scott did kindly offer the use of a shower in another room downstairs. Having since read other reviews mentioning the same issue, it appears this is a known problem that has not yet been resolved. There were also a number of smaller issues that, taken together, made the stay feel poor value for money: No conditioner, bath mat, or bathrobes provided. Tea and coffee facilities were very basic (instant coffee sachets and no decaffeinated option). The TV remote had no batteries. Wi-Fi was unreliable and required intervention from the owner because the router was too far away. It stopped working again later in the evening. The bathroom door did not close properly. No shared lounge area, despite this being advertised. Evening meals consisted of frozen Tesco ready meals for £5. Breakfast was continental, as advertised, but the selection felt minimal for the price charged. For example, orange juice was limited to one glass unless additional servings were specifically requested. Overall, while the hosts were welcoming and did their best to help when issues were raised, the accommodation felt very basic and more in line with a 2-star guesthouse rather than a property charging premium rates. I left with the impression that costs were being kept to a minimum in many areas, which significantly affected the overall value for money.
