The view was nice

I honestly had a very difficult experience at Kubu Taru. At first glance the room looked beautiful and very traditional, but I was not prepared for the open-roof design that many accommodations in Bali have. The room and bathroom were partially open near the roof, which meant insects and animals could easily enter during the night. The room was also very dark, with no real windows, and I immediately started to feel uncomfortable. I noticed tiny black dots continuously appearing on the bed sheets and, at first, I thought they were falling from the wooden roof above the bed. Only the next morning I realized they were actually coming from tiny insects in the bed itself. I woke up itchy and honestly felt horrified thinking I had slept with them all night. I also kept hearing animals moving under the bed and around the room during the night. At one point something knocked my body lotion off the bedside table, and there was also a huge gecko on the wall. I couldn't sleep because I felt anxious the entire time. Maybe this kind of accommodation is fine for some travelers, but personally it became a nightmare experience for me. I was supposed to stay two nights, but I left the next morning.
