Mayai Ocean Resort

We spent 7 nights in the downstairs suite right on the beach - a very quiet stretch of sand, perfect for relaxing with breakfast included. The suite was well equipped: Large, comfortable bed, air conditioning, hot water & a shower with strong pressure. The mossie net closed completely, which was very reassuring. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day, stocked with fresh bottled water & kept in excellent condition. We appreciated on request the evening service that treated the room against mosquitoes with a turndown. A Special thank you to the restaurant, with really friendly staff with excellent service. They really made us feel at home & were always ready to serve & help. Breakfast was standard with the usual various egg preparations, pancakes, fresh juices, coffee/tea & fresh fruit & the few times we had dinner at the restaurant everything we tried was excellent. Watching the local fishermen at work was an authentic glimpse into the local life. There was always a spot in the sun, but also plenty of shady spots both by the pool & at the beach.

Uns hat das Hotel sehr gut gefallen. Die Lage am Strand ist wunderschön und das Frühstück sehr lecker. Besonders hervorzuheben ist jedoch das ausgezeichnete Personal, dass uns wirklich bei jedem noch so kleinen (Vertreibung der Bienen beim Frühstück) oder großen (im Folgenden geschilderten) Problem zur Seite stand. Unsere Koffer waren bei der Hinreise auf das tansanische Festland verloren gegangen und wir haben sie erst in Sansibar wiederbekommen. Da die Airline nicht in Tansania agiert stand plötzlich ein sehr aggressiver Fahrer am Hotel der ohne Quittung einen erheblichen Geldbetrag wollte und sonst drohte die Koffer wieder mitzunehmen. Nur Dank dem großartigen Einsatz der Mitarbeiter haben wir nach langer Auseinandersetzung unsere Koffer und vom Hotel auch eine Quittung erhalten. Dafür können wir uns nur ausdrücklich von Herzen bedanken. Wir können dieses Hotel wärmstens empfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

The staff were nice especially the ones working at the restaurant. There was a last at reception who was always available to assist politely. Our stay was comfortable on this well designed property which is right at the beach.

The beds are quite hard which seems to be the norm in the country. It is better if the staff sweeping in the morning do not bury rubbish which is not degradable under the sand at the beach.

Lieve mensen, lekker aan het strand en een fijn zwembad!

Qua eten en drinken was niet alles op voorraad. Ook ligt het iets verder van de stadjes.

Nous avons passé un superbe séjour à l’Hôtel Mayai, tout était absolument parfait du début à la fin. Le restaurant est un vrai point fort : dîner avec la brise marine, la vue sur la mer… un vrai moment de détente. La carte est variée, les soirées à thème certains jours apportent une belle touche d’originalité et, surtout, tout était délicieux. Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié le petit déjeuner à la carte. Cela devient rare aujourd’hui et c’est vraiment un vrai plus qui fait la différence. Le personnel est aux petits soins, attentif et chaleureux. La chambre était jolie, confortable et suffisamment spacieuse pour s’y sentir parfaitement bien.

Le lit est un peu dur mais c'est souvent le cas en Tanzanie
