We booked this for a stopover on our way to Cornwall, the house was beautiful and had everything we needed. The host was very welcoming and the welcome pack was brilliant. The location was beautiful.

Not all facilities can be used, would be worthwhile having some signs up.

The location, the friendly cat and the trampoline was lovely for the kids. The building was beautiful, well equipped kitchen and lovely shower.

The pictures on the booking were misleading. It showed two bedrooms but we had to sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the lounge so the children could sleep in the bedroom. We had no curtains in the lounge and a roof light above the bed so were wide awake as soon as the sun came up. The breakfast was very disappointing. It was listed as continental but was literally a choice of eggs, bread or Granola. No fruit, kid friendly Cereal or pasties, jams etc. Check in was late and check out was very early, no time to enjoy the place.

Size of kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. Airy conservatory. Property suitable for young children as the furniture was older and well used. Well appointed for a family.

Some of the external woodwork was in need of redecoration and making good. The grass should have been cut and nettles removed from the garden, especially with children playing. The boundary gates and walls were of concern as it was possible for children to get through the gates or fall into the water. The front gate could not be secured. The property description should have informed us of the next door waterfall/stream with brick wall drop of several feet. The vacuum cleaner needs updating to a bigger and younger model. We did a thorough clean and it was obvious it had not been emptied or the filter changed for a while.

The barn overall is beautiful, the shower and kitchen are both lovely. The fresh eggs, bread and milk along with muesli, tea, coffee and sugar are very thoughtful and welcome. The kitchen is very well equipped.

The main reason you hire a hotel/B&B away from home is that you have somewhere comfortable to sleep. The bed was a double (this may have been mentioned in the listing) and far too small for two people to sleep comfortably and on a mattress that gives little support. The bedroom could take a king size bed. The barn is filled with natural fibres, the lamp shades, the jute rug, wooden dining table and chairs. The bedding is goose down duvet with feather pillows, all breathable and natural yet the linen is 100% plastic which creates a very hot environment in an already too small bed. On trying the two other options, both sofa beds, ones mattress was all springs in your back and the turquoise click clack was solid and unforgiving… yes we tried them! Additionally outdoor lighting around the barn would be beneficial especially as the ground is uneven and the lockbox is required to obtain the door key. Blinds or curtains to the living room would also be desirable.
