Colton Point Motel

It was an older motel which had been redone / renovated. The bed was very comfortable and the location was on a main route, so easy to get to. It was very quiet which was nice after a busy day hiking.

I was in there to compete in a race the location was great 2.2 miles from the start line . The Colton Point Hotel was maybe 5 miles from town so I was able to get an early breakfast. And had plenty of time together to the get to the start line. I have to mention that I had one of the best nights sleep the night before the race and afterwards the next morning . For me the race went from 8 AM to 11:30 PM so sleep was important . I got to meet some of the other guest staying at the Colton Point we swapped story’s of some of the places we’ve been to .

The owner upgraded our room for no charge because of an ice storm. She communicated quickly and had great suggestions about restaurants in the area and ways to visit the canyon. The location to the Grand Canyon was phenomenal!

Booking a motel, you don’t expect for your room to actually be in an addition in the back of the building on the 2nd floor. I was traveling with my dog, which I made known prior to my arrival. The stairs to get up and down to the 2nd level have poor lighting and the parking lot/grass area has no lighting at all so taking my dog out at night in an unfamiliar area was not ideal. The room was very small, which was fine for what we needed but the door was an interior bedroom door that connected to a hallway that was shared with 3 other rooms. Our door did have 3 different locks on it, but it still made us feel uneasy. My dog could hear every little noise, and barked through out the night which is not her normal behavior. The room was clean and updated, but I was just not expecting the stairs/room set up. Staff were friendly.

Breakfast good and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and hepful

The room was the smallest we ever stayed in. Would not recommend it to anybody. No towel racks or lamps on night stands. One chair. No table. No lighting going down the stairs into the back parking area which was pitch black. Safety issue! Overpriced for the livable space
