Alfama Vintage Studio - Historic District

We arrived at night, and the check-in process was very smooth—we had received the access code via message beforehand. The apartment looked great: very modern and nicely decorated. A big plus for the dishwasher!

Right when we arrived, we noticed a strong smell throughout the apartment, especially in the bathroom. We suspect it was coming from the pipes. We aired the place out, used water and the AC, but nothing really helped. We messaged the host first thing in the morning, and at first, the response was quick. We were told that maintenance had come by and poured some unclogging liquid down all the drains—and that it would probably help. Unfortunately, the bad smell persisted. When we messaged the host again, she seemed doubtful about our concerns, even though she hadn’t come to check it herself. Although the apartment itself was nice, the unpleasant smell made it hard to stay there comfortably, and for that reason, we don't think it was worth it.
