GBWe recently stayed at this stunning property, which is beautifully decorated, well-equipped, and incredibly cosy. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the cute little bookshelf filled with a great selection of books was a lovely touch that added to the homey atmosphere. Overall, the property itself is truly charming and offers a relaxing environment. Despite the frustrations we experienced, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay thanks to the property’s overall charm and amenities. With better communication regarding the fireplace wood supply and ensuring the heating is on for guests’ arrival, this property would be perfect. We would recommend it to others, with the caveat that they may need to bring additional firewood if they plan to use the fireplace extensively.
Our experience was slightly marred by a few issues that are worth mentioning for future guests. Upon arrival, the property was very cold as the heating hadn’t been turned on in advance, which meant it took several hours to warm up. This was particularly disappointing as we had specifically chosen this property, despite it being over our initial budget, for the enjoyment of the fireplace. Unfortunately, we found only three logs provided upon arrival—barely enough to last an hour—and certainly not sufficient for our two-day stay. When we requested more wood, Joe did help to arrange some, but it took several back-and-forth conversations, which took up some of our holiday time. Additionally, even after receiving more wood, it was still only enough to last a few hours. We were informed that the property typically supplies only six logs per day and that guests usually bring their own extra wood. In our experience with other holiday rentals featuring fireplaces, a sufficient supply of wood is always provided for the duration of the stay, especially considering the price per night. Moreover, there was no mention of this limited wood supply at the time of booking, which would have been helpful to know in advance. We were also promised an arrival gift, which we never received.
