The family is one of the most lovely families I've met in all my travels so far. The yucatec Maya (grandmother) is so genuine and sweet. Patricia is so sweet and kind. They really make sure your taken care of. Carry your bags and make sure you have everything you need. I highly suggest the fire ceremony it's a beautiful ceremony. I wish I stayed longer. There's much more to chichicastenango then the market. And this family and hotel proves that! The beds are unbelievably comfortable and cozy. It is so clean. The food they make is good. Filtered water, the mask museum is right next door. 10 minute walk to the market in the morning! Perfect place thank you for a wonderful stay.

"I had a great time here"

It is located in a very quiet part of town, close to the forest. Just 10 minutes from the busy market. The owners were very helpful. I wish I could stay longer here.

"Local culture, traditional home cooked food, and lovely people"

10.0

I had a fantastic experience at Casa Diego Ignacio! I booked it last minute so didn’t know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and care of the hotel and owners. The owners are absolutely lovely, and their presence made it feel like I was getting the benefits of a homestay with the privacy of a hotel. They offer a cool variety of cultural activities that made me wish I booked an extra day to fit them all into my schedule. I would definitely recommend taking part in at least one of them. My room was quaint but recently remodeled and had a very cool mural depicting Mayan artwork. I definitely recommend opting in to the homemade traditional meals they prepare there! The abuela, who does the cooking, was an absolute sweetheart and her food was delicious! All in all, it was an amazing experience that I cannot recommend enough!! If you want to experience local culture, traditional home cooked food, and lovely people then this hotel is a great choice. Those are the reasons why I travel, if you feel the same then I recommend a stay here.

I wish I could stay longer. What a privilege to stay with this Family. If you want to see people connected to their history, roots, customs this is the place to stay. If you want plastic-fantastic generic hotel don't bother.

"If you want ‘nice’ accommodations with amenities, keep looking. If you want a memorable experience that you won’t get el"

6.0

Great location near to the tourist attractions of Chichi. Also, just down the hill from Pascual Abaj, where traditional Mayan religion is practiced.

The room was very basic, quite rustic, and cold at night. It would not qualify as a hotel room in most places I’ve traveled to for these reasons plus dogs barking and roosters crowing. However, what it does offer is an authentic experience with a Kiche’ Indian family. You will get a sense for who they are and how they live. They are really nice, helpful and accommodating people. My wife and I both speak Spanish so I don’t know how much could be gained by non-Spanish speakers. I couldn’t say. She opted for the traditional Mayan massage in a temascal and loved it.
