Activities Desert Camp

I highly recommend staying overnight in this camp! It is located off the beaten track, next to a very photogenic dune - you can't see or hear any road or other camps. The camp is very intimate - only three tents. The host is very friendly and tries to make guests feel comfortable. He fulfills all your wishes, you just have to say it :)) - all typical attractions are available on site. We have great memories. Thank you!

We loved everything!!! The location and the size of this desert camp make it an ideal place for those who enjoy the peace of the desert. Salim is an amazing host and made us feel very welcome. We stayed for two nights in this camp and had an unforgettable experience, from peaceful desert photoshoots to a delicious BBQ with Salim, from learning Arabic to "hanging out" with the cute camels. The bed and the tent were comfortable and we received complimentary snacks, tee, and delicious Omani coffee. I highly recommend staying with Salim at the Clouds desert camp.

Everything! Salim, our host, was so kind and made our stay wonderful despite very challenging conditions. We arrived just after a (rare) heavy storm when the wadi was raging before the desert. We were going to drive ourselves, but he insisted on collecting us and, as we were early, took us dune bashing and to see his camels - very cute! My two boys loved sliding and climbing the dunes. Our tents were beautiful - well furnished, very comfy beds, small but very clean bathrooms. Food was delicious and plentiful - including for my vegetarian sister. The location was stunning - on top of dunes with fantastic views and no-one else in site - so incredibly silent! Salim told us stories and lit a camp fire. Unfortunately it started to rain after we had gone to bed and became so heavy the tent leaked but Salim came back, collected us all up and took us to stay with his family. Nothing was too much trouble and he went to great lengths to make us feel safe and comfortable! Breakfast with his family was delicious and then he drove us back to the desert for us to slide down the dunes - fantastic fun. The trip was full of unexpected surprises - the weather - but was the best desert trip we have had and we will be back.

There are many camps out there with many good ratings. 9+ ratings with many reviews isn't unusual to see when looking to stay at Wahiba Sands. I guess that -in general- it is fairly easy to be impressed with the surroundings and a camp in the desert. I travel a lot and personally I have over 400 bookings on this platform. When searching for accomodation in a new place I do my research throughly. We read many many reviews of several camps before we decided to go stay here at Clouds Desert Camp. Salim currently has few reviews. However we decided to stay here because; *uniqueness: it is clear that his camp offers a unique "staying in the desert with the Bedouins" experience. *size/quietness; Other camps are bigger and therefore noisier (other guests doing dune bashing or the sound of AC units of other tents). Salim's camp is small and far away from the other camps or the villages bordering the wahiba sands. The nights were dead quiet here. What a bliss. *remote; by being 10km into the Wahiba sands his camp is far enough away to have starry nights without light pollution. Other camps are often nearer to the edge of the Wahiba Sands and therefore more affected by the night pollution of the nearby towns. Salim went out of his way to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. There is still cellphone reception so you're not entirely disconnected from the outside. However, to be "disconnected" from daily life for a night or two is probably one of the greatest plusses of a stay with Salim at his Clouds Desert Camp. Thank you Salim, we hope to be back! The best camp on the Wahiba sands desert. Far from the city and the other camps, in the middle of desert, perfect localisation. Nice, spacious tents with comfortable beds. Very good dinner and breakfast. Resonable price. Very nice and helpful owner. Offers pick-up and othe atractions. Thanks for nice staying.

Amazing place, super quiet, far away from civilization and in the middle of the desert. All was perfect, and Salem is an amazing host. Just to meet him and talk to him was a pleasure. He showed us his camels, night market and his house when we can dress in traditional beduine clothes. He looks after us very well and this place is much better than any other big resorts. He offers an additional 4x4 transport if you have 2WD only.

The host was very nice and personable. It was obvious that he cared for the comfort of his guests. We had a great time walking out and exploring the dunes. Many great places for pictures. Also, the dinner (lamb) was terrific!

We stayed one night at this camp managed by Salem. We had a delightful experience, from sunset to sunrise, alone in the middle of the dunes. There is not a single camp in a 10 mile radius, and Salem has made everything to make our stay truly amazing. From dinner to breakfast, from the tent to the mattress and the shower, there is nothing to change. Salem’s hospitality is also the best representation of Omani’s people, staying with us late at night to share tea and campfire while telling us stories about Bedouins and Oman.

Amazing desert drive to arrive to the camp just before sun set. Service is just incredidle. Incredidle privacy. Our second comp in this area and by far the most incredidle. Highly recommended
