If I'm honest, I'm quite torn about this place. On one hand the host was very nice, even provided some pastries and a slice of orange cake, the bed was comfy, the view was OK, everything was clean, however...

...the host didn't speak any English, and communication via google translate was a bit clumsy; there wasn't any chair available in the room, but the worst of all was the entire rented floor being made of materials amplifying and echoing any sound. You could hear everything from the kitchen, the hallway, the shared bathroom. The worst of all was people going for a number one - it was like someone emptying their bladder into an echoey metal bucket half full of water right next to your head. Listening to this several times a day eg. during breakfast, or being awaken by it just wasn't pleasant. This being said, your experience may differ if your co-guests will realize just how bad the acoustics are and will behave accordingly.

The place was exceptionally clean. I have never seen an accommodation with shared bathroom and kitchen being so clean. The place is beutiful with amazing view.

It is relatively remote-you don't even have any bar or restaurant that you can walk to, so you really need to have a car. But we were prepared for this.

Beautiful big property, great location and views, lovely host who made us feel welcome. Large shared kitchen and living space.

If you’d like to explore off-the-bath destinations for sure Belle Veu in San Jorge will suits you. The atmosphere is very rural and local, peaceful at night. Zelda, the owner was very kind and gave a lot of nice local recommendations. The room has a very nice balcony where to enjoy the view of the valley. Bathroom, even if they were shared, were always clean. Kitchen was very clean as well and well furbished. It’s a great locations for explore the northern side of Madeira.

You need a car to reach this remote area of the island. There are only a couple of buses per day. There’s a small grocery store and local bakery that you can reach by walk.
